Grissom's actually sitting in the break area behind his office in the morning, with a rolling TV unit in front of him. He may be screening various dirrrty National Geographic specials purely for reasearch purposes.

He's also hanging out with his new spider that he's named Jerusalem, or just Jerry for short.

He then wonders if the spider likes the nickname, and thinks he could probably have one of the creature languages students try to translate and find out, and then his brain breaks into a thousand, itty bitty pieces, and instead he goes back to watching the dirrrrrty videos.

"Okay, Marilyn," he says, but he doesn't actually eat any salad.

"How was your morning?"

Alas and alack -- he won't get any Lucky Charms.

"Quiet. I've a class at one and office hours afterwards."

He'll just steal a few marshmallows when Sara is out for a run anyway.

"Huh," he somewhat grunts, getting up to put the salad back into the fridge.

"I'm sorry for my behavior yesterday," he says quietly into the open fridge door, grabbing a bottle of water. He then turns around, and asks "Thirsty?" as if he didn't say anything at all previous to offering her a drink.

"Yes, please," holding out her hand for the bottle. "It's all right."

"No, it isn't," he shrugs, taking a small sip. "Did you eat lunch?"

"You made sure I was all right and you have your own anger at Maia to deal with," she says quietly. "I understand that.

"And no--I brought my own." Leftover veggie soup.

"Can I warm that up for you?" he asks while finding her a spoon in the dishrack.

"She submitted a request to drop my class. I haven't had the heart to sign it yet."

"I just don't know what to think," he says with a frustrated look on his face, the confusion obviously irritating him.

"Yes, thank you," she says, handing it over.

"She did?" Sara shakes her head. "I don't know what to tell you."

"I'd approve it for any other student. If they don't want to be in my class, I don't have any desire to have them there," he shrugs.

Grissom takes the soup and puts it in the microwave. "I'm not really angry with her. I'm angry that she hurt you, yes, but I don't see why we would need to terminate a professional relationship over a personal issue."

"See if she would be willing to speak with you about it," she suggests, taking the soup carefully when he hands it back.

"I don't believe that would be wise," he says walking back over to grab her a napkin.

"I have found, through this employment opportunity, that I don't mix well with the teen girl psyche," he says in a dry tone.

"Then sign it. She's made her choice. And if it makes you feel better, I've never mixed well with the teen girl psyche."

"Well, that confirms my suspicion that you actually came out of the womb fully-formed at at least the age of twenty," he chuckles a little, face still frowning slightly.

"I just found better things to do than worry about my nails." She frowns, seeing his expression.

"Gil, are you okay?"

"Fine," he says in a hollow tone. "How's your soup?"

She sets the bowl down, sticking the spoon within it.

She then gives him a tight hug.

He holds her gently. "I'll be fine. I don't want you to worry about me," he pauses, "or be concerned."

"Too late. I've reserved the right to worry about you."

"You've mentioned that."

He kisses her forehead, and leans back. "What period is your class? Lunch is almost over."

"I'd better get moving," she says with a sigh, picking up her bowl. "We're beginning the homicide unit today.

"I was wondering--think we should chaperone the dance tonight?"

"Probably," he shrugs. "I have my treatment (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandom_clinic/60050.html?thread=2819218) this afternoon, but I'm going to talk to Wilson about my regimen, so I might be up for it. Can we talk about it later at home?"

"Sure. I'll be there when you get back."

He nods, as she grabs her things and starts to head for the door.

"Sara? I love you," he says seemingly out of nowhere to her back. He's not the type of guy who says it very often, and to say it on campus is a little weird.
