Drivers Ed, Jan 11th (8th period)

"Hello... uh, is that everyone?" Tommy says, looking around at his very small class. "First things first, everyone please sign the roll sheet, because even though there's only a few of you, I don't know names yet."

"All right... you've all seen cars before, right?"

*DEATH walks in, carrying his scythe and wearing his professional black robes. A small calico kitten pads after him, mewling softly. He signs the sheet.*

A small tank rolled in. "Hello. I'm usually Togusa's ride, but he's not feeling well. He wasn't following orders last night and..." It remembered why it wasn't suposed to talk. "Anyway, Togusa knows how to pilot me! I'm sure when he feels better, he'll be a good student!" The little tank rolled around in a circle. Can he pilot me for practice? I'm sure that nobody would mind, and I don't want him driving some other car!"

The high childish voice had a little whine to it. "Please can he drive meeee?"

"Uh, actually, in this class we're going to be learning how to drive Earth vehicles... though I may do a special unit later on on more... unconventional... modes of transportation. Sorry, man," Tommy offers apologetically.

"Okay. But I'm an earth vehicle! Look!" It spun around, perfectly sure that anyone could see that a Tachikoma was indeed from Earth.

"I'll tell him about those regular slow vehicles, but don't expect him to like driving them." In a huff, it rolled off and eyed the cars. Oh...cars held natural oil...this could be good for the little Tachikoma.

"Well, perhaps I should clarify. I meant Earth vehicles from this particular time and reality."

Archie comes in, looking more perturbed than usual. "Archie Kennedy, Lieutenant, Royal Navy."

It's been a while since he's introduced himself by name and rank, but he is completely out of his depth here and it's something comforting to fall back on.

Duo bounds in, psyched about this "driving" thing.

"Duo Maxwell." He says, signing in. "Lookin' forward to this!"

Please tell me you know what a car is, omg...

*DEATH answers, not waitin for his hand to be seen because, after a semester, he has learned that raising his hand rarely works.*

*DEATH pauses, as if remembering something he has heard or read.*

*The kitten, which is sitting on DEATH's desk, mews its agreement and then bats at one of DEATH's sleeves.*

"I'm not entirely sure how train cars can be driven without an engine, Doctor Oliver, sir." Archie is still completely perplexed.

"Cars?" Duo says. "Sure, I know 'em. Haven't driven 'em before, though. Not a lot of folks have 'em on the Colonies, and I haven't been on Earth very long." He grins. "I've seen a bunch that go real fast, though! We get to make them do that, right?"

Talk to Dr. Tommy and smart doctor glasses.

"Dr. Tommy? I'm J.C. Broots, sixteen. Can I add this class?"

"Absolutely. There's lots of room left."

Ivanova comes in after Broots, trying to straighten her spine and give the appearance of wakefulness. "Ah, Dr. . . . Tommy? I was wondering if there was still room in the class. Ivanova, by the way. Susan Ivanova." She tentatively extends the add slip in her hand.

[[Sorry, I was dead tired yesterday and fell asleep before I remembered to do this, and next week Add/Drop period might be over. *sweatdrop*]]

"Dr. Oliver," Tommy corrects with a smile, "Or Dr. O, if you must," he might've rolled his eyes a little bit at that statement. He takes the add slip and signs it, "see you next Wednesday night!"
