Walter hadn't tried the cafeteria food. The only reason he was there for lunch was because it gave him someplace to meet Victor, and because anything that worried him tended to be something he went toward rather than away from.

He grabbed one of everything and loaded his tray before finding himself a seat a discrete speaking distance from other students and flipping open his Sociology book to read until Victor showed up. If he showed up.

Victor was nervous as he walked up to Walter, but he knew that he had to face his problem head-on. After all, it was what Mr. Beaubier had always taught him.

"Hey, Walter," Victor said as he sat down across from his hopefully-still-friend. "Sorry I didn't call back; I forgot to turn my phone back on ring."

[ooc: sorry...I'm in a computer repair course and we started out hands on training today, so I've been stuck behind a computer installing stuff. I get off of school in, like, an hour and a half, though, so I'll be able to pick this up then. We'll just pretend this all happens at the normal time. :p]

Walter looked up from his book and closed it, pushing it and his mostly empty tray aside.

"Hey, Victor. It's alright. Are you feeling okay today?" He resorted to a sort of professional blandness to cover his discomfort.

"I did." Walter nodded and wished for a cigarette. "Look, it's okay. I know you weren't really... well, you know. We'll just remember about the Wonka root beer from now on, right?"

"Oh, thank Jesus!" Victor exhaled, a little too loudly. He covered his mouth and looked around, but no one seemed to react to his outburst.

Then, he thought something. "Wait, you know I'm not really what?"

Victor's reaction made Walter laugh and relax a little; obviously he wasn't the only one who had been nervous.

"Interested in me. It's okay." Walter decided not to mention Victor's sleep talk about Bridge. "I don't usually don't do that sort of thing in public, so I'm sorry."

"Well...you're kinda cute, but I don't think I really feel that way about you. I mean, you're great to hang around, even if you do smoke like a chimney, but you're more a friend than anything else." Bridge, on the other hand...

"You don't have to apologize, either. I'm the one who got...well, drunk, I guess, and basically tackled you. And don't be modest, either, 'cuz I got it on tape."

"You don't need to worry, anyway. I have someone at home." Walter stopped and blinked. "You have it on tape? That's really not something I want getting around."

Oh, this was not good. He didn't mind having kissed Victor, but he didn't want to have to explain to Alucard, No, I've only been gone a week and I'm already kissing someone else.
