After class, Piper stops by Lorelai's office just as she was asked to do. "You wanted me to stop by?"

Lorelai smiles. "Thanks, Piper. Have a seat," she says, gesturing to a chair. "I just wanted to thank you for being willing to TA again. Are you interested in being TA for both classes or would that be too much for you?"

"No problem. I like being the business TA," Piper says with a smile. "I don't mind being the TA for both classes."

"Good," Lorelai says. "Now that you've agreed, I have to tell you that I may be relying on you a little more this semester. I found out just before the holidays that I'm pregnant."

"Congratulations!" Piper says, genuinely excited for Lorelai.

"I'll do whatever you need me to do to make things easier."

"You may regret saying that," Lorelai warns her teasingly. "Let's meet every week at this time to go over stuff, okay?"

"Sure, I can do that," Piper agreed.

"Great! Well, I won't keep you. Thanks so much for all your help though. I'm glad to have you back in class this semester."

Piper grins. "I'm glad to be back."

She stood up to leave. "See you Thursday."

Grissom strolls into the office during 5th period, before Sex Cultures.

"Ms. Gilmore-Danes," he says warmly. "I hope you've found the renovations acceptable. I apologize for the lack of proper office space."

Lorelai grins. "Please, call me Lorelai. And it's fine. I'm only in two days a week. I assume you're Dr. Grissom?"

"Grissom, ahhh, Gil, is fine," he smiles, offering her a hand. "I'm here all week long, but please, feel free to use as much of the space as you'd like, and bring in anything that you may need."

"I can't think of anything," she says, shaking his hand. "Um, I should probably tell you something though. I recently found out that I'm pregnant."

Gil tilts his head slightly ~~but not like Veronica, because that would be wrong~~, "Congratulations. May I ask when you're due?"

"The beginning of July," she replies, grinning.

"Well, I'll have to make sure the office is comfortable for the two of you," he says.

"I'm sure you noticed, but your key also opens the door," he gestures back, "to the kitchen area in the back. I think you'll find a lot of bland foods and ginger ale already at your fingertips. And if you need anything, like I said, I'm here all week, mostly in the lab across the hall."

Lorelai gives him a puzzled look. "Why bland food and ginger ale? Is there another pregnant teacher? I've been lucky though, I haven't had any morning sickness or anything. I'm just going through massive caffeine withdrawal."

"No coffee in this office, I can promise you that."

"You don't drink it?"

"Not anymore," he says, rubbing his hands together. "Medical condition."

"Well, I'm sorry to hear that," she says. "My husband will be happy to hear that you won't be slipping me coffee on the sly, though."

"That's true, however, there is a distinct possibility that Sara, my, ummm... the science teacher, may go through the office and take off all the good snacks, thinking that I am sneaking them. I'd label the sugary stuff as yours, just in case," he says semi-seriously.

"Does your husband work at the school as well?"

"No, he owns Luke's Diner. And it sounds like Sara and Luke would get along really well ~~ZOMG DOUBLE DATE!~~. Luke is watching my diet like a hawk."

"Ahh, Luke's Diner. A temple of temptation," he says with a knowing grin. "I haven't had the pleasure of dining there, for the reasons previously mentioned, I'm sure you understand, but once summer comes hopefully I'll be granted culinary freedom."

"Although, tofu really isn't that bad."

"Okay, yes it is."

"Wow, okay, Sara is worse than Luke. Luke hasn't made me eat tofu."

"I tried a macrobiotic diet. It was more painful than my symptoms."

"I can imagine," Lorelai says sympathetically. "My husband is trying to get me to eat more fruits and vegetables," she shares, spitting them out like they're dirty words.

Grissom shakes his head, acknowledging their shared predicament.

"One would think with the sheer size of vitamins lately, and the marvels of modern medicine, all nutritional needs could be taken care of, and the harmful effects of things like coffee negated, with a single pill."

"I should have gone into research."

"I tried telling my husband that when I was pregnant with Rory, I ate whatever I wanted and drank coffee and everything and she turned out just fine, but he won't listen," she says.

"Ah, of course. Rory Gilmore must be your daughter. I've heard her name ~~on the radio, scandal~~ around campus, I'm sure she's a wonderful girl ~~when she isn't defiling Jedi~~."

He prattles on, unaware that he's being a socially-inept idiot. "However, considering your age, and the age you must have been when you had Rory, statistically your pregnancy in all likelihood could be more difficult this time, and your husband is correct in his position, scientifically. The added precautions are probably best for your child."

"Yep, Rory's a great kid. In fact, if this one doesn't turn out just like her, I'm going to be disappointed," Lorelai jokes.

Then she nods. "I get all that. It's just, all these years of eating the way I like and drinking gallons of coffee, I can't change overnight and Luke doesn't seem to be able to grasp that."

She glances at the clock. "Oh! Almost time for my next class. It was great meeting you, Gil."

"Nice to meet you, Lorelai. I'm sure I'll see you on Thursday."
