Library (12/20/05)

Janet ran towards the library. She'd overslept, and it looked like no one else had gotten it open yet. She flipped on the lights, unloaded the food from last night's shopping trip with Parker, made sure that no one but library staff could get to the food, and sat down to start eating while she finished up her Classics project.

French bread

Granny Smith and Tulip apples
Belgian Chocolate truffles
Chocolate Marble Cheesecake
Maple Walnut fudge
Wine and champagne (hidden)

"Does it talk back?" another voice wondered, considerably less angrily. "Logan? Xander? Can you guys hear us?"

"Sometimes. Apparently not today. It's like it's in a snit, which I think means they must be close. Logan? Xander, are you there?"

Xander heard a female voice off in the distance, though it was hard to tell what direction it was coming from. He certainly recognised his own name, though. "We're over here," he called back. "Um, wherever here is!"

"Logan? Xander?" Rory yelled, cupping her hands around her mouth. "It's Rory and Zero! Keep talking!"

"Jesus, could you hurry up?" Logan yelled as a quill whizzed through the air above him and hit a book just about his right ear.

Now the voice seems to be coming from the other direction. Zero heads that way, Rory in tow. "Whatever you did, try apologizing for it! Can't hurt!"

"All we did was BE here," Xander called. "And trust me, we're sorry about that!"

"Well, for starters, you've clearly WANDERED OFF THE PATH." Zero turns down another row of bookshelves. "Keep talking!"

"We're sorry," Logan yelled upwards. "Really, really sorry!"

That does seem to have helped, as now his voice seems to be coming from one stationary place. And there are objects flying through the air now. Zero brandishes her mallet at an oncoming inkpot and says, "Try it." The inkpot obligingly comes to rest on the edge of a shelf. "Okay, I think we're close!"

"Are there airborne office supplies? If yes, turn to page 32 of your Special Collections Choose Your Own Adventure book, and rescue Xander and Logan. If no..." Xander paused. "You should've taken a left at Albequerque?"

Rory stumbled fairly blindly after Zero.

"Okay, guys? We can hear you, and you're holding still now, thank God. So just stay there, okay?"

"Well, it sure as hell sounded like you did a few minutes ago!" Rory yelled back.

"You're moving! Not us!" Logan yelled. "We're stuck here, if we don't want to get impaled on a quill or something!"

"Okay, we have to be getting close. They're probably right around here some--" Zero and Rory step around a bookcase to find Logan and Xander under siege. "HEY! KNOCK IT OFF!"

And then Zero and Rory rescued the boys and everyone was fine and Logan and Xander went on to have really cool second semesters AND IT WAS ALL DONE THAT DAY AND NOT IN MAY, OMG OKAY?
