Library (12/20/05)

Janet ran towards the library. She'd overslept, and it looked like no one else had gotten it open yet. She flipped on the lights, unloaded the food from last night's shopping trip with Parker, made sure that no one but library staff could get to the food, and sat down to start eating while she finished up her Classics project.

"Wormholes. Hunh. Better you than me, although I'm sure the end result is interesting. The math would be a challenge to stay focused on, though. Not my favorite thing. But the Shop final sound like fun. Heh. How did strapping a turkey to the wall get you out of the freezer?"

Parker grabbed up a shrimp and popped in in her mouth, chewed, then added, "And by the way, you're one of the last couple people I haven't given my presents to yet. Grab me sometime tonight so I can get them to you."

"I disassembled some metal shelves, then taped them to the turkey and used the whole shebang as a battering ram. Shattered the lock," she said, simply.

Sam took a deep breath and prepared to expound on the glory that was wormhole physics, then remembered to whom she was speaking. "Yeah, the end result is great."

"I'll have to hook up with you later," Sam said, "since I've still got yours, too. Didn't seem prudent to show up with them yesterday."

She grinned at Parker. It looked like they were going to get away with it, and it had been a lot of fun. Maybe breaking the rules occasionally wasn't so bad.

Parker smirked gleefully. "I'm so glad I dared Drake. Guy's usually a stick-in-the-mud, but get him on authority, and he looooves to mess with them. Not that we did anything untoward," Parker added sweetly. "Maybe we can run a 'team exercise' again, sometime. Although I'd like to know what the new principal is like, before attempting it."

"Yeah, I had fun, except for that last part," Sam winked. "And I could always use more practice. Not that we did anything that would require me to use skills that may have gotten a bit, er, rusty."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course not. Just good old bonding, and sharing, and... yeah. Last part?" Parker frowned, then smirked. "Ohhhh. That. Heh."

"Shut up, Parker. One word and the shoes get it." Sam's tone should have conveyed that she was mostly kidding. Still, she didn't want anyone mentioning anything to Jack until she was around to do damage control.

Parker shrugged in amusement, and said, "Hey, line of duty, right? You took one for the team. Far be it from me to tease, I wouldn't have wanted to be facing the choice between either Bristow or 6 myself."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep, team player, that's me." She made a face. "And it was definitely a spur of the moment plan. Not one of my best, even if it was ultimately successful."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, no detention. That *has* to be better than having to kiss 6." Parker looked curious. "Was he a sloppy kisser, or just way uptight? He sounded like he was going to bust something when he was talking over the radio. And how the hell did you guys, ahem, precipitate that situation with the alarms? anyway?"

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Only Parker asked these questions. Sam sighed. "It wasn't horrible. It's just...he's pretty much a complete stranger, and he's got Wednesday and I've got Jack. I've never kissed anyone where at least one of us didn't want to be involved before. It was very odd."

She leaned forward and lowered her voice, "I don't know what tripped it. I was getting down from reaching up to Callisto, and the next thing I knew, the door slammed shut and the alarm was going off."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker frowned. "Okay, that does sound weird. I forgot he has a girlfriend, or had one, since she's not around any more. I suppose if you were actors, it'd be different, but...."

"Hmmm." Parker leaned forward to, motioning with her hands. "So, you were just stepping down, and they went off? Was Callisto leaning so far out there was cleavage, or what?"

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Sam said, nodding emphatically. "Six had given me a boost, so I could reach up to Callisto, because of the high ceilings. Then I lost my balance and almost fell. I didn't notice any cleavage. Of course, I wasn't really looking, either."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker looked thoughtful, then picked up a pencil and a cup, and did some balancing back and forth. Her eyes widened. "Uh, did you fall against him when you were on your way back down?"

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fall? Er, no. I kind of grabbed on for a minute with my feet, but I'm sure..." She trailed off, remembering the age and gender of the other half of that partnership. "Oops."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Note to self: next foray to the lounge, use same-sex teams to avoid hormone detector problems," Parker agreed. "Ah, well. The teamwork was a success anyway. I haven't seen the others yet today, although Lee's over there, looking peaked. Earth booze is a funny look on him."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think that depends on the same-sex team in question, Parker," Sam said, also spotting Lee. "Poor guy. I think he's been having a rough couple of days, with Kara being out of commission."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-20 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker couldn't help giggling at that comment. "Too true." She looked over at him. "Yeah, I picked up a few things in New York for him to give her, but she's been hiding out so much, I don't know if he's had the chance to give them. I might track her down before Thursday just to be sure she gets them. Is Liz still studying like a crazy woman? She's one of the other people I haven't gotten presents to, as well."
