Investigator's Club Meeting - 2pm

At 2pm, Parker put up a sign on the door of the library:

By the sign-in sheet there is an application to be in the club. Take one and turn it in to m.parker@fandomhigh.net by next Friday. Applications will be considered by club advisors and officers.

Angel found the table to be very fascinating. "I thought you liked Angelus more."

"Because what Angelus and I had was so very deep and meaningful," Callisto snorted. "There's a difference between being se-, uh, having, uh, that kind of compatibility and actually liking someone."

Angel dug his thumbnail into a groove in the table. "Oh. Because I thought maybe you - I mean with him - and the talking. I wasn't sure..."

"Well, I liked him enough to talk with him." Callisto was not having this conversation, cleary she'd fallen asleep after Ethics and was dreaming. "But it wasn't like there was any real emotional connection there, just...talking."

"Not your fault," Angel hastily assured her. "I mean Angelus can't. With the emotional connection. Comes with having no soul."

"Right," Callisto had never noticed the pattern the lights made on the ceiling before, it was really very interesting. "And beside I wasn't exactly looking for that kind of thing from him anyway."

"So when he went away you weren't... " Angel gave a non-committal shrug, as though really he was just making conversation "disappointed?"

"Uh, no, not really," Callisto replied in a deliberately casual tone.

"Oh." Really interesting groove on that table. Yessir. "Because I thought you might be."

"You did?" Callisto started absent-mindedly fiddling with her application form. "You, uh, mind if I ask why?"

"I dunno." It might be possible for Angel to slouch further in his chair, but it might also be possible for pigs to fly. Actually at Fandom High that's probably not as apt a comparison. "Just you seemed to get along so well is all. And he and I don't share all the same interests."

"Well, I won't deny it was...refreshing not to have to defend the kind of person I am," Callisto stared at the ripped up paper that used to be an application form. "But differing interests are good too. I mean, if you know everything that another person does what's there to find out?"

"I don't - I mean - I wouldn't ask you to defend yourself," Angel said. "I get where you're coming from. Not, you know, literally since I'm the guy who destroyed my village. But as a concept."

"Yeah, it's, uh, not fun. You wake up one morning, everything's perfectly normal, then the next day everybody's, well, dead."

"I'd want revenge if that happened," Angel said.

"Hey, at least I'm not calling it justice." Callisto gave a rather pathetic looking smile. "I'm honest enough to know that's not what I want."

"Given any thought to what you're going to do when you accomplish that?" Angel asked.

"Don't know." Callisto leaned ovr to rest her chin on the table. "Have to kill her first...then maybe..."

Angel looked curious. "Maybe...?"

"Dunno. Stop hurting? Not feel so empty?"

"If you have any luck with that, lemme know," Angel said.

"Yeah, sure," Callisto shrugged.

"So you, uh, doing anything this weekend?"

"Work, probably, study for the last few finals. See what else turns up."

"I'm headed up to New York," Angel said. "My finals are all done. Far as I know, anyway."
