Tick walked over to Veronica to say hello.

"Hello, Veronica!" he said, making that introductory sentence true. "I'm glad to have an investigator of your caliber heading up my department! Especially since, honestly, investigation isn't really my thing."

Veronica looked up and smiled. The Tick was probably the one person at Fandom High that hadn't heard about her escapades this week.

"Hey, Professor. It's good to be working for a real live superhero," she replied.

Actually, he had recently made a conscious effort to start listening to the radio more frequently, so he had heard. It's just not the kind of thing he would ever mention.

"Thank you, Veronica! But, seriously, I'll depend on you to do the bulk of the work with the investigating. I can only offer muscle, enthusiasm, and a unique perspective on the world." Tick pondered for a moment before adding, "And a magnifying glass. But not yet. I need to get one first."

"That's fine with me, sir. I've done a lot of investigating. Plus I'm really good at delegating." She glanced at Marty's sleeping form and sighed. "How are you at motivation?" she asked with a wry smile.

"I've been known to give speeches in the past," Tick said, smiling. Lockheed shook his head in annoyance from Tick's shoulder. /He can give a speech about how to neatly store socks in a drawer./

"Whether or not they were good at motivating people is up to those people, though." Tick looked at Marty. "But it's Finals. You kids probably need the rest."

"That's true," she said with a nod. "I think I'm finally done with all mine."

"Good for you, Veronica!" Tick's expression darkened slightly before he said, "I have to grade the exams for my class this weekend. Frankly, I think you students have it easier."

"Oh, I don't know about that," she teased. "But maybe I should have proposed that we abolish finals since they're so much work for everything."

"But then we wouldn't have a rough barometer of what the students have learned." Tick shook his head. "No, they're a necessary evil."
