Her laptop is open and plays ambient trance.

"My neice showed me the Drone Zone and it's great for studying. Get to work on your finals, gang. This is it. Go time."

She kicks back and reads the Neiman Marcus catalog.

A piece of paper with the following information will be given to all participants.

Thank you for volunteering to help with our experiement, you will be given 2 sets of words (seperately, one easy, one difficult) which you will have one minute to memorize, the words will then be taken away and after 5 minutes you will have to recall these words and write them down.

For each word you correctly recall you will either be given a poker chip or not given anything, depending on which group you are in. The person with the most chips will be called at the end of the day to claim their prize.

"Hey, Paige, since this is so slow, I'm going to go set up a table in the library. Is that okay with you?"

"Yeah cool good idea," she says handing over half of the sheets, "meet back here about four and if we've not got enough people by then start begging?" she suggests

Hey there... I've been everybody and their brother's psych dummy. What's one more. I'll play for chips.

Paige grins and hands Sheps a bag with 40 chips in.

"Just check out those words until I til stop then, just sit for 5 minutes and write them down okay?"

"Oh and thanks Shep."

*shrugs* Sounds harmless enough.

She nods, "yep, well unless you decide to go for the mystery prize," she says trying to keep a straight face.

"Hey Paige I wanna prize" Maia said a wicked gleam in her eye

"You'll have to remember all 40 words!" she says handing her the first list and starting the stop watch.

Maia smiled again "Of course"

When the time's up Paige takes the sheet from her.

"You have to wait five minutes then write down as many as you can remember."

"Ok" Maia leaned back in the chair with a smirk.

"Right off you go."

Maia wrote quickly and then laid the page in front of Paige with a flourish "There you go. What's my prize?"

she goes through the list, "well I'm gnna have to put you in the controol group Maia, and you have to do the hard group now."

Maia frowned a little "Do I still get a prize?"

"er no you don't," Paige says wondering this will affect what Maia writes, cos that would be really interesting for their results.

Maia looked very put off by this, she picked up the pencil and tapped it on the desk looking at Paige. "You didn't say I wouldn't get a prize." Maia crossed her arms over her chest staring at the paper swearing under her breath. Finally she took the paper and started to write out the words:::

Exaggerate (What you did because you said I would get a prize), caffeinate, encyclopaedia, dinosaur, tentative, legislation, participation (What I did to get this so called prize), progressive, appropriate (What would describe your behavior if you would give me my prize that you promised me), spontaneous, Hypothermia, Physiology, Concrete, Sedative, Predicament (What you will find yourself in if I don't get my prize), Laminate, Vocabulary, Condemnation, Sanctuary, Hypocrite (What you are because I do not have my prize)

Maia slid the paper across the desk to Paige without smiling at her, the list looks longer because its obvious that Maia added a few things.

Paige ignores the little added extras and counts how many words she got right.

Finally she looks at Maia, suppressing a smirk "I tell you what Maia, go find Jack in the library and tell him you've won the prize he's got okay? How's that?"

Maia raised an eyebrow "I want your prize" Maia was deadpanning Paige with a very distrustful look.

Paige sighs, "You got the same number right as Shep did, I can put your name in a hat with his or you can go see Jack for his prize, it's totally up to you!" She's doing pretty well at hiding her smile this time

Maia stuck out her lip thinking, grumbling she said "Oh I'll go find Jack." Maia stood casting Paige a look of incredulity she walked off arms still over her chest.

Paige watching her leave smirking a little and made a note 'Maia has the SIGHT!!!! Worth remembering when doing memory tests'
