"Who and when?" Angel asked.

Marty gives him a grim look. "Think I'm going to tell you? For all I know you've already had it yanked from you and I'm not giving you any ideas."

"If the soul was gone you'd already be dead," Angel said, "Just for what you did to Dru and for helping put the soul in me in the first place."

Marty snorted. "Yeah and I've seen the snow job you put over on the whole school about how vampires are really misunderstood creatures and aren't really evil. Forgive me if I don't fall for that line. You said that you want people to not trust you. Surprise! This is me not trusting you."

Marty glances to where Bel has entered the library and keeps close tabs on him.

"Someone's already protecting the person in the vision or at least arranging for protection. If you want to keep your status non-staked, you might want to consider dropping by Caritas for a check-up."

"For a what?" Angel stared at him. "You've got to be kidding me."

"Yeah, listen, if all it takes for you to lose your soul is an episode of smile time and a little mojo? Then I think it's best that you hit the karaoke trail and sing that green guy a little song. I'm not saying making it a public event. Just you and greenie. Consider it a public service."

Angel covered his face with his hand. "Extremely private. You, me, him, that's it."

"Believe me when I say this isn't a pleasurable experience for me either. I'd rather not hear you sing another Barry Manilow song as long as I live. Just the three of us then. I'll make arrangements with what's his face and you can have a private audience."

Marty checks his watch. "I've got to get to Phale's and find out what books Bel-boy bought and then figure out what spell components he's purchased in the last two weeks. I'll meet you at Caritas later.
