Investigator's Club, the Library -- NFB

After kicking out everyone who wasn't a library aide, a Librarian, or incipient club member, Parker hung a sign on the outside door:

INVESTIGATOR'S CLUB MEETING
PRIVATE

Then adjourned to the counter, where the brownies, drinks, cookies, and fudge were.

Hopefully, more than just Marty, Zero, Janet and the Souled Wonder were going to show.

If he's late, he's not saying why. No doubt an oncolgist is to blame.

He wanders in to the library, step-stab-step-stab with his cane.

"So are you The Tick, or Dr. House?" asked Jenny. "Because you're obviously not me, and we're the token adults here today."

"Do I look like a tick to you?" House asked her, blue eyes scanning. "Dr Greg House. And you are?"

"I don't know. You gonna draw my blood? Then there might be some tick comparisons." Jenny wrinkled her nose at him and grinned. "As the sole female mentioned out of all the adults on that e-mail, I'm thinkin' I'm Jenny Calendar."

"Introductions are merely a formality, Miss Calendar." House gave her an amused look.

"I'm a doctor, not a vampire," he addressed the drawing of blood issue, and deliberately didn't look at Angel.

Jenny laughed. "Nice to meet you, Dr. House," she said.

"Pleasure's mine." House said. "You're the psych teacher, aren't you?" He thought he'd heard the name.

"Got it in one," said Jenny. "Took over when Drusilla got run out of the school. It just so happened I was looking for a job right around then."

"Dr. House, good to see you," Parker says, offering him a brownie. "This might be more than you signed up for. But I hope you'll want to be involved."

"What? No red lolly pops? I'm crushed." House took the brownie, though. "I said I'd support you crazy kds. So here I am."

"Thanks. It's really appreciated. We invited in Profesor Tick and Miss Calendar because they have extra knowledge, not because we don't want you." She grinned. "And you've been *hiding* the red ones. I noticed they weren't around any of the times I visited Gilmore in the clinic."

"The red ones are mine, that's why I hide them." House answered with a little smile.

"I think it's great. The more faculty back up you have, the better. I don't know Miss Calendar. The Tick and I had a chat a few months back. He seems...like a good choice."

"He's different, but I've seen his Criminal Justice class, and he does know what he's doing." Parker shrugged. "Miss Calendar has some background in magic, and she was kind enough to dis-invite Angelus from Echolls' place, so I thought I'd ask. But some of this -- like the gremlins, and damn zombies-- might be better solved by science. So, the tiny club is now getting a membership drive."

"Nice to see you again, Dr. House," Angel said.

House found a smile for Angel. "You've been scarce lately," he commented.

"I had a good week," Angel said. "Didn't get the crap kicked out of me every day like my first one here." He held up his left hand, where the burn on it had faded to white scarring. "See? Did just like Wilson told me and got better."

Angel kept the part about doing absolutely nothing for the burn on his chest to himself.

"I knew I kept him around for a reason." House said with a little smile. "I'm glad he helped you."

"He did," Angel said. "How's he doing if you don't mind my asking?"

"Why would I mind?" House arched a brow. "Do you have reason to be concenred about him? He's fine."

"Doctor House! How are you feeling?"

"I'm good, Alanna. How are you?" House found a broad smile for his assistant.

"As well." Faithful poked out of Alanna's sweater pocket and trotted over to Dr. House. "Did you go to the um, concert thing last night?"

"No. I suffered a quiet night at home last night," He shrugged and reached down to pick up the cat.

"Suffered?" Alanna asked, her voice a bit nervous. Faithful happily purred. "At least you didn't get squished."

House laughed. He tends to forget she doesn't always understand his sense of humor most of the time.

"How do you know I didn't get squished last night? Just because I wasn't at the concert..."
