"Sam!" exclaimed Janet. "There you are! Did you bring your camera?" She juggled her popcorn and soda in order to hold up her camera.

Daniel looked at the one row in front, and then the row that Sam was sitting in.

He shook his head. "Nu uh."

Sam grinned. "Are you kidding? I've got two cameras, three rolls of film, and a spare battery. I didn't want to miss anything." She handed a camera to Daniel. "Here, make yourself useful."

Daniel looked down at the camera. "Can I not make myself useful further back?" he asked. "I'm not sure if this is the sort of image I wish to be projecting as a teacher."

"Daniel," said Janet. "Tell everyone you were helping the yearbook staff."

"But I don't know any of the yearbook staff!"

There might have been a hint of a whine in his voice.

"I do," said Janet. "I'll introduce you, and you can give her copies. See? It's not a lie."

Daniel pouted.

He leant in towards Janet. "And what do I get?"

Janet smirked at him. "A whole lot less grief from Sam and I."

Sam rolled her eyes. "Our overwhelming gratitude and appreciation?"

Janet grinned at him. "Thanks," she said. "Should be fun, right?"

"I guess," he muttered, before perking up slightly. "Beats trying to set finals."

Sam patted his leg. "Or grade them, I assume. Not to mention taking them. That's...well, it's not nearly as much fun as you'd remember."

"I know," he sighed, before looking at Janet. "Although I can think of many other things I'd rather be doing."

Sam's face lit up with a huge grin. "You may rethink that, once they get going."

"We'll see," he promised.

"What? You're holding a camera at a school function. It would be silly not to use it, right? Say they're for the yearbook or something."
