Grissom welcomes each class, and brings them next door to the A/V lab. He's obviously not feeling well, and leaves both classes a few times rather suspiciously as the students are ~~probably looking at porn~~ working.

Death and Dying

Each of you has been assigned a computer station. Please follow the link that has been provided to you.

I'd like you each to choose one presentation, and share your thoughts on what you read or hear with the class. Headphones are at the table near the front.

Remember to keep reviewing your course work for your upcoming exam.

Sociology of Deviance

First, please turn in the interview you did as part of your project. Remember, it is 25% of your grade. If you need an extension, please stop by after class, but you will be expected to continue with the other coursework.

Today in class, you will be asked to update me on your research. Computers are here for research purposes. I'd like to be shown at least one article, website, artifact, graphic, statistic, etc. that you will be including in your project, which will be due at our last class. This update will be included in your grade, and will give me a good idea on what direction your project is taking so that we can iron out any kinks, as it were, this week.

[ALL STUDENTS: Also, please stop by over here so you can give me input on your grade(s). If you don't comment by the time grades are due, I will assign you a grade completely on my own, which may not accurately reflect all of your gameplay, or at least what you intended. Thanks.]

*Sara knocks on his office door a couple of times before walking in.*

*Without a word, she places a hand on his forehead.*

He sounds slightly annoyed, and definitely fatigued. "Sara... it's late. What are you doing here?"

Yes. It is late. And I was going to ask you the same question. *Snarky but concerned.*

Whatever you're doing can wait until tomorrow, Gil. Come on--both of us need rest.

He sighs through his nose, and then gets up, a bit shaky. "Okay," he says begrudgingly, throwing the strap to his bag over his shoulder and gesturing toward the door in a manner that isn't entirely chivalrous.

*Well, he can't expect her to respond to manners that are not chivalrous. Rather than move on ahead, she stays beside him.*

How was class?

He walks ahead of her through the door before turning around in the hallway. His cool expression doesn't quite mask his discomfort, and there's a hint of something beyond just a return to his grumpy, monosyllabic tendencies in his voice.

"Fine. Yours?"

I'd pity the students who didn't show up for the final experiment, but that would take too much energy.

*They walk down the hall. She doesn't loop an arm around him or overtly invade his personal space. But she is there.*

"Sorry to hear that," he says quietly, looking down at his feet as he trudges ahead.

They wander to the front doors silently, and he stops and turns around as he pushes one open and a cold blast of air greets them. "Did you bring gloves today?" he asks, looking down at her bare hands.

Always. I still don't like the cold. Did you?

*While speaking, she pulls her gloves on and zips up her coat.*

"Mmmm," he grunts, pulling out his gloves and sliding them on. "I like the cold. And Fandom has nothing on Minnesota for harsh winters."

When they get outside he still maintains a certain distance, but he seems to lighten up a bit, the cool air a bit of a physical relief. "And you never get to use Snow Print Wax in Vegas."

We didn't have any snow in Tamales Bay when I was growing up. Bostonian winters were a bit of a shock.

*She gives him a concerned look.* Are you okay, Gil? Is there anything I can do?

He closes his eyes for a moment, and then shakes his head. "No. Let's just go home."

*She doesn't argue. They're a fair distance from the school itself, headed towards the dormitory building. And she takes one of his hands.*

Home it is.

He squeezes her hand lightly and then moves to take her arm into his instead, partially as an apology for being cranky and partially for balance.

*It's near the end of a school term. They're tired. They're stressed. He's undergoing chemotherapy. Believe it or not, understanding girlfriends exist and he happens to have one holding his hand steadily.*
