Janet opens up the library and starts working.

[Between gritted teeth:] I *wasn't* going to do anything stupid. If for no other reason than riding off to "avenge" -- hah -- CJ at this point does nothing other than rip even more control out of her hands. I just really, really want to beat up on someone right now.

Janet rolled her eyes--again--stood up, and said, "What the hell are you people all talking about? And keep it the hell down, it's a goddamn library!"

"I'm closing the fucking library," spits Janet. "And then you can all have your goddamn argument in peace. And privacy."

Wesley watches the confrontation in fascinated horror, frozen in place, hoping devoutly not to become in any way involved.

"You," snaps Janet, pointing at Wesley, then the exit. "Out of here. Now."

He outs, considerably faster than is compatible with dignity. He'd hate to be caught between any two of the Library set; a battle between the lot of them is closer to Armageddon than he really cares to get.

[Ten looks aghast and turns towards Zero and Parker. In fact, he looks like he's considering throwing up at the very idea of it.] What?! No.

"We know that now." Parker looks around, and jerks her head back toward the office. "If we're going to discuss this, how about we do so in private?" She keeps her voice quiet, but her arms are still folded, and her face is grim.

*Through her teeth.*

No. We do not. We jumped to a conclusion, and were set the squall straight.

[The Doctor looks at Methos, then looks at Parker and Zero, then looks at Methos again. His expression can best be described as confused and pained.]

[Methos pushes his hands through his hair.] Sorry, sorry, SORRY. They thought I hurt CJ. Past tense. And I need to go find Mac and either kick his ass or have him kick mine. Because I don't want to be here right now.

[Ten closes his eyes and winces.] Okay.

*Still through gritted teeth.*

We apologize. Again. We are teenagers. We are impulsive and occasionally stupid. And we were concerned.

*Lifts her head and speaks in a formal tone, fighting down her instinct, which is to yell. A lot.*

We are still concerned, but this is your own business and I'm sure you are handling it squallin' properly.

Under her breath, Parker muttered, "I'm not," but she straightened and turned back to Ten and Methos, keeping her voice too low for anyone but the four of them to hear. "Look. We saw bruises. She said it was private. We'd just been talking about Dr. Pierson being gone. It was a mistake, based on 'you never know.' Okay? We didn't *want* to believe it. So we asked, and were very relieved to be set straight." She glared at Ten. "And we'd still like to know who to avoid, or keep the hell away from C.J."

[Ten looks them both in the eye, one at a time. His voice is still quiet.] I accept your apology. But...until I hear it from her, I don't want to say who or what I think is going on. Because I don't want anyone to be accused without proof. Just...keep your eyes open. Be aware.

Parker glares at Ten one last time, sends Dr. Pierson a look of apology and embarassment, then says, "Fine. We'll keep that in mind," before following Zero.
