If they were to open the door, Methos is sitting at his desk, frowning at an open book in front of him.

*Zero knocks on the door before shoving it open.*

We need to talk.

Methos looks up. "Good thing you're not a cat at the moment, then. What can I do for you?"

Parker very deliberately shuts the door behind her, and leans against it, her arms crossed. "We saw C.J. at the Perk last night."

She said some very concerning things.

"And we were wondering if you had any idea how her wrists were bruised?" Parker said, her voice even, not accusing, but watching Adam very, very closely.

"I have some idea. Not all of it, but CJ hasn't..." Methos takes a deep breath. "She'll tell who she wishes in her own time."

So it wasn't--

*Zero decides not to finish that sentence.*

"It wasn't...?" Methos askes, prompting her. Then it sinks in. "No," he says with great care. "It wasn't me."

Parker lets out a audible breath of relief, and her whole body relaxes. She glances quickly at Zero, then re-focuses on Adam.

"Why won't she say? All she'd tell us is it was private." Her eyes narrow again as she runs over the list of other guys C.J. knows.

"Possibly because it is private." Methos said in a voice of chipped ice, "Because it's her choice who and how to tell. And if you don't agree with her, by all means, go FORCE her to tell WITHOUT HER CONSENT."

Methos rises and glares. "Back. Off. Parker."

Oh, please, Arsenal's scarier than that before coffee.

We didn' push, for squallin' out loud, we were concerned! You might wanna talk t'that Shane girl, she jumped in when we backed off!

Parker flinches back into the door for a second, goes red, then her face darkens.

"We didn't force *jack*. SIR. Nor would we. We came to the other person who's been obviously pissed off and knows her well, and we nicely asked him if he knew anything! And if he hadn't answered, that would've been another goddamn story! SIR. Forgive us for giving a damn about your traumatized bruised girlfriend who happens to be our friend too. We'll just be going now, since no one thinks the *police* should be called. Unless you want to tell us it's being handled by the authorities?"

Parker is not near tears. Or if they are, they're tears of rage.

Methos sits back down. And takes a deep breath. "All right. All right. I'm sorry, Parker."

Parker's still shaking, but she nods stiffly. She swallows hard. "Do you know... who? I just-- I don't want to look at every guy she knows, and wonder."

Methos struggles with the face that this is CJ's private business. Then he looks up into Parker's eyes. He's used to seeing old eyes in a young face -- but damn, Parker really is just sixteen. "Ten and I have a fair idea who it is. Until CJ chooses to do something about it... we'll abide by her decision. Because anything that I do without her knowing about it or agreeing to it... just takes more control out of her hands, and I won't do that to her."

Professor, she's...well, she's behavin' like a classic victim. By lettin' her decide t'keep this bottled up, it'll only hurt her more in the long run.

I'm sorry we jumped on you like this. *Zero opens the office door.*
