Tara grins broadly at the students as they enter, her good mood almost super-human.

"Hey. Only three weeks until the end of term, huh? I don't know about you, but that kind of snuck up on me! So today we've got a pretty heavy discussion topic, and I want you to remember that this is just a class. Emo Closet is there if you need it, although I hope we call all be gentle enough with one another that it won't be necessary, okay?

"Because today, folks, we're going to be talking about rape - and all I'm going to ask you folks to do is define it."

As for OOG, I'm sure you would have been completely fine with me saying something if I said "Good job".

I've been a writer for a very long time? So I really do understand the benefits of constructive criticism. I've also been in fandom for a long time - long enough to know that not everyone's going to have something entirely positive to say. HOWEVER. How one chooses to express that constructive criticism is exceedingly important, I think.

You said 'this pisses me off a lot' - and that's fine. Like I said, that's how you feel, you're entitled to that and I'm not trying to tell you otherwise.

I'm just saying that maybe you could have phrased things a bit better so that it didn't come off sounding like (what I thought) was an attack and, hence, unnecessary, uncalled for and immature.

Your reaction was knee-jerk, just the same as mine was - and I'm not saying you didn't think about it, because you obviously did, as evidenced by your other responses - all I'm trying to say is that it was an instinctive reaction, for both of us.
