Tara grins broadly at the students as they enter, her good mood almost super-human.

"Hey. Only three weeks until the end of term, huh? I don't know about you, but that kind of snuck up on me! So today we've got a pretty heavy discussion topic, and I want you to remember that this is just a class. Emo Closet is there if you need it, although I hope we call all be gentle enough with one another that it won't be necessary, okay?

"Because today, folks, we're going to be talking about rape - and all I'm going to ask you folks to do is define it."

"So you said that it would be cheating... does that mean they can give their consent, but cheat? Or that consent is mutually owned by the monogamous couple, and one cannot consent without the other's approval?"

"I wanna say that the second one is right, but... people do it all the time without the other person in the couple even knowing, much less consenting," Shane says with a rueful and humorless quirk of her lips. "I think... it's the individual person's choice, which pretty much brings us back to where we started."

Tara laughs, nodding. "So let's stop talking about the hypothetical person, and just talk about you. If it were you who had to make the choice, would you feel that you needed your partner's consent? Or does your consent remain your own to give, regardless of your relationship status?"

Her smile a bit more genuine, if pensive, Shane sits back in her seat. "It's still mine? But... I don't know, I'm... I wouldn't want to hurt my partner, so ... I don't know, maybe it's not, after all."
