Anders stares at the Tick. Except he's really not. But he is.

Not that he'll admit it.

"Uh. Hi. Anders." He coughs. "Samuel Anders, and I'm supposed to be -- yeah, I know, it's a joke, right? -- a Wise Person?"

"Wise... Hmm... Wise people have large brains. And beards. That means you need a big hat! And a beard!" Tick went into the box, looking for a large hat.

Suddenly, he had an idea. He took the wool cape Callisto had been wearing and ripped a small bit off. "Beard!"

Anders flinches. Big hats scare him, and they always make him feel like his balance is off. Plus he's gotten used to the snug fit of the baseball cap Cally bought him. ~~He feels like it keeps his brains in. What if they rattle around and fall out of the big hat?~~

"Big hat and beard . . . got it." He reaches out tentatively for the cape-cum-beard.

Tick pulled a large tophat out of the box. How the tophat fit in the box, and how Tick might have come into possession of the tophat were questions best left unasked. "Wise, isn't it?"

Anders nods and puts the tophat on, decidedly not asking how it fit in the box. "Wise, learned man ~~and we're just not going to finish that Izzard ref, because OMGdirty~~ all the way."

He tries to figure out how to attach the piece of wool cape to his chin. It'll be itchy.

And if he knew who Uncle Sam was, he might be resenting the vague resemblance on account of his name.

"I like it! You'll need a cape, though!" Tick went back to the box."

"A cape? Wise people wear capes? Wouldn't they, like, get caught in elevator doors or something? I mean, that's not very wise, is it?"

But then again, Anders figures, what does he know about weird Earth holiday customs anyway? "Might as well just go with it," he mutters, pushing the tophat up away from his eyes.

It slides right back down again.

He sighs.

Tick pulled out a plain but manly red cape. "Wisdom is power, and this cape says 'Mighty!' Try it on, chum!"

Anders tries the cape on. ~~It'd go great with his FH Ranger outfit if the FH Rangers were based on Mystic Force instead of SPD.~~

He experimentally swishes it around a few times and nods slowly. "Feeling wiser already. Like, I know now to watch where I walk so I don't get caught or tripped up by the cape."

"Excellent! Obviously, you do still need something to wear besides the cape and hat. Let's see..." he said as he went back to the box.

"How about this?" he asked, pulling out a pretty snazzy shirt and pants combo. "Are you okay with snazziness under all of that keen?"

Just go along with it, just go along with it . . .

Anders nods. "Sure? The snazzier the better, right?" He forces a smile onto his face.

It doesn't really fool anyone, most likely.

Taking the outfit, he trudges off to the dressing room to put on the snazzy under the cape and trudges back. "How's that?"

"You look very wise, Anders!"

"Thanks, mister Tick, sir?"

Hoping nobody's noticing, Anders tries to strike a couple of thoughtful-looking poses.

"Nice poses, too! Okay, Anders, I think you're set! Feel free to go back and change into your normal clothes."

Anders grins. It's a weak grin, but it's a real one. "You think so? Thanks!" And, leaving the top hat and pseudobeard behind, he heads back to the dressing room and changes back into his workout clothes.
