Speech Comm

[She's in a fairly good mood today, sipping a latte and dressed in a warm sweater with extra long sleeves.]

201--Speech
Boys are stupid and girls have cooties is the topic of the week. This is supposed to be funny, people. Lighten up. Deliver, now.

301--Non Verbal

Aristotle said that rhetoric is finding and using, in a given situation, the availible means of persuasion.

Let's discuss the rhetoric of the body in the context of what we've learned so far this term. Persuasion, trust, authority, power...all these things factor in to our subconsciuos reactions. Sometimes the message is misinterpreted between the sender and receiver because of differences in cultural meaning.

Rhetoric of body, people. Let's roll.

201

"Boys are stupid. It's a universal rule, that if you're a female who interacts with a male human in any way, you will find yourself thinking or saying this phrase at least once in your life. Odds are, you will say it much more often. Like when a boy calls you at the wrong time, or doesn't call at all, or forgets to tell you that his boyfriend was shot in the head - and lived, or that he barely escaped being vampire bait or fails to communicate because he doesn't realize people care about..."

D'anna goes silent when it dawns on her that she warmed to her theme a little too much. She clears her throat, "in other words, girls have cooties because we're mysteries to boys and boys are stupid because they weren't born mind readers." And finding no convenient hole through which to fall and hide, she returns to her seat red-faced and puts her head down in the cradle her arms on the desk.

After 201, D'anna'd be quiet happy to hide under her desk for the rest of the period so she contributes little to the discussion this time around.
