John walks into study hall, drops his books on his desk and starts daydreaming.

"Hey, John!" Lee says brightly.

"Lee!" John smiles brightly. "Feels like it's been forever!"

"Hasn't it?" Lee says, sitting down and pulling out some Caprican mints and offers them. "How are things? We should hang out tonight."

John takes the mints, popping one into his mouth. "You;ve got perfect timing. I was just gonna invite you to Caritas in town tonight. Angel's officially my roommate and we thought we'd gather some people up and go be happy. I even plan on singing..."

"Singing? Oh, I gotta come see this," Lee says happily. Seeing the pretty dog, Lee gets distracted --

"Yes, you gotta come tonight," John says, excitement in his voice. "I told Angel I'd sing and we came up with a few possible songs. This is preparation for being the Little Drummer Boy in the Holiday Pageant."

"Being the what in the what?" he asks.

Following on the heels of one of the students, Cameron manages to enter the studyhall. He runs over to where John and Lee are sitting and jumps on one of the chairs. He's starting to get good at the jumping thing. Whining softly, he rests his chin on the table and looks at his friends.

After figuring out who the dog exactly was, John feels kind of weird about petting him now.

"Lee, take a guess who this is."

"He's beautiful!" Lee says happily petting the dog.

Cameron growls softly at being called beautiful.

"He's apparently not very happy, though!" Lee says warily.

"That's because that's Cameron," John says and laughs. "He's a dog."

"Puppy!" Lee says a little more excited than a teenage boy should be and pets the beautiful dog.

Cameron whines, but seems resigned to the fact that he's going to get petted.

Lee scratches his ears lovingly and is rewarded with a glare. Which kinda weirds him out. "You're not a mean, dangerous, killing Earth dog, are you?"

Cameron is kinda weirded out that getting his ear scratched feels good. He's definitely not going to lean his head into it, nope.

/Yes, very mean. I'll chew up your shoes./

Lee is perplexed by the mixed signals and looks to John for advice.

Anakin walked into study hall and saw John.

He wrote a quick note on a piece of paper and tossed it across the room.

Heard you're in the pageant, too. What a Kris'mus? Or a Hanika?

John catches the note and opens it up.

Christmas is the traditional Christian holiday that's celebrated in December. It's celebrates the birth of an influential figure in Christian religion. In America, it's a time of giving, giving thanks, and getting presents.

Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday similar to Christmas. It's an eight day festival and involves giving one gift per day. It means dedication. I'm not Jewish so I'm not really sure on this one.

John folds it up and tosses it back.

Anakin read the note with a furrowed brow, then tossed a respsonse back.

The Dean mentioned the parts about presents. Does there need to be a bell rung to get them or something?

Apparently I get to be part of the music. Lucky me. What'd you do to get suckered into this thing?

John read the note and laughs a little. He scrawls a response.

A bell? Not usually but I guess different families have different traditions.

Me? Uh, got naked in a common room. We were playing strip triad and we found out that the common room was not the best place to do that.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the run-down on Christmas and Hanukkah (did I spell them right?)--I might head to the library to see what else I can learn. Came out of the Thanksgiving thing thinking it's a celebration about food that looks like cans, and even this world can't be that strange.

John reads the note, writes a response and tosses it back.

Yep, you spelled them right. The library will have lots of books on the holidays. As for Thanksgiving, well, at least you knew it was about some kind of celebration! And dude, good stuff comes in cans!
