Statistics provided by the CDC and reported by the AP, and study the 36 richest nations globally.

Welcome back, everyone.

Lecture on Mass Grave Sites

But the right to exhume a mass grave or to halt tampering with a grave is not clear under international law. UN General Assembly resolution 3074, adopted in 1973, calls for States to cooperate in war crimes investigations. Articles 32 and 33 of Additional Protocol I require parties to search for missing persons after hostilities end, and otherwise assist in finding out their fate. But an individual country does not have to allow suspected mass graves to be examined.

Discussion for class: Please share whether you believe such a law should be put in place.

Buffy signs in and starts taking notes. She isn't looking forward to the end of the semester as she feels she has learned a lot from Dr. Grissom and could learn more.

Marty sighs. "That's just the typical loophole a government operated entity would put in to protect themselves from actually giving power to an international entity."

To himself Marty thinks that this would probably be an ideal vacation for Grissom.

"Interesting observation, Martin. I sense you have some strong opinions on the matter."

~~Oh, he's not THAT bad. Close though.~~

"Governments are nothing but an experiment in public relations these days." Marty says with a smirk.

~~I'm sure if there was some rare indigenous beetle involved with a mass grave he'd be pretty giddy. Other than the horror of a mass grave that is.~~

"If the law would actually help, then yes. It can't really hurt to have grave sites inspected, can it?"

"Well, there is the issue of a nation's sovereignty, which can be a delicate matter in International law. And some nations do not want these type of sites examined for obvious reasons."

"I think that there should be a law like this because then the families might know where and what happened to their loved ones during a war or if they were kidnapped. Stuff like that." he takes a few more notes.

"Interesting. The personal angle can be the most compelling argument in cases like these, although difficult to truly study or understand because of the sheer magnitude of the number of people affected. Good work."

Rogue takes notes and ponders for a moment. "I think the law would be helpful. People should have the right to know what has happened to their family members."

[[And it would be helpful if I actually read the question right, huh?]]

Allie agrees.

"If it helps catch those responsible so they can be properly punished, then yes."

"To me such a thing seems utterly depraved, to say nothing of unsanitary in the extreme . . . but I suppose your modern technologies have ways of circumventing the more . . . putrid elements?"
