"No, if Beka or I had a problem with it, we never should have done it, simple as that," she insists. "I didn't think or ask questions, and it got out of hand because of it... Can we just put it down to a learning experience?"
Parker laughs ruefully. "Yeah. Definitely. For both of us. If I'd paid more attention, I wouldn't have put Valentine on the campaign, either. Live and learn." She sighed. "Thanks, Sun."
"Speaking of questions... how are you dealing with the new roommate Crichton's taken in? Any problems yet?"
A couple, but neither is something Aeryn's actually going to tell anyone else. "It hasn't been bad," she says. "Angel himself hasn't been that bad, it's just the threat of something happening."
"He seemed-- quieter, at least." Parker looks bemused. "I didn't really believe it until I saw him singing Manilow. Even if Lorne hadn't confirmed it, that was... not Angelus."
She cocked an eyebrow. "No perfect happiness. And no mojo. I'm going to keep looking for a way to lock that soul in place, so there's no risk. Although even then, I guess he's no more safe than anyone else here at the school. Give him gremlin spit or a good whammying, and you have a six-foot bloodsucking problem." She sighed. "You can't talk John-Boy into getting Wings a single?"
"I do believe Angel," Aeryn says. "If he's that good an actor, he almost deserves to beat us all. As for the room, I'm not interfering unless something happens. It's John's call. And I can't say that I don't feel better being nearby in case something does happen."
"I suppose that's true." Parker shivers. "I just keep thinking there has to be some way to make him perfectly safe. I'm probably dreaming on that, though. If you ever *do* want to disinvite him, and make it so he can't come back? There's a spell that Tara Maclay or the new psych teacher can do. Even if it's just that he leaves towels on the bathroom floor."
"I'll definitely keep that in mind," Aeryn says, because she knows it's a possibility it'll have to happen. "My objective is to keep it so that I don't have to resort to that, though."
"You've got a lot of backup on that objective," Parker said, getting to her feet. "And... I admire you for not bailing on John. You've got every reason to, from where I'm standing. But it's good that you're not."
Aeryn pauses. "If it wasn't for John, I wouldn't be involved in this at all," she says, and smiles a little. "And thank you for having the sense to tell me that somewhere besides the middle of class."
Parker looks non-plussed, then laughs. "Valentine has all the tact, doesn't she? Forget about it. Your boyfriend is nuts, but he doesn't deserve the worst that could happen, so... Consider me on call. You can probably handle any crises better than I could, but you never know."
