Open Sociology Lab : 11/22

Grissom opens the lab, still exceedingly chipper. He opens the shades and then pulls a boom box out of his bottom desk drawer, and cranks up Houses of the Holy.

He then drags two card tables out at the front of the class room.

One has a display on calculating time of death with blowfly and fleshfly development data.

One has two pies, Pumpkin and Cherry, that he, no shit, baked himself.


Pie, bugs, and Led Zeppelin. He's a happy, happy man.


[OOC: Come stop by! Bug him about anything. I am primed to write some bizarre scientific explanations for unusual phenomena today. What? I had a half day at work, and Passions starts in 20 minutes. *heh*]

Angel folded his hands on the desk in front of him. Anyone looking close would have noticed tension in the grip. Anyone who knew him well, which was precisely nobody at school, would've known it was nerves.

"I - uh - don't know Bris - Dean Bristow's requirements," Angel said, "but if you're not comfortable with me around my classmates I could maybe ask him if there's another way I could fulfill my requirements for the class. Something that would be better for you."

"Unfortunately, I do not have the power to keep you... quarantined... from the rest of the students, so it would be foolish to keep you out of class. And I am personally more comfortable having you where I can see you," he says in a matter-of-fact tone. "You may even enroll in another of my courses next term if you see fit. But know where we stand. If we have a problem, you will know it immediately. If not, you will be treated by your professor like any other student, even if the man behind that title feels quite differently."

Angel nodded. His hands didn't move from their position. "Okay. Is - is there work I should be doing? To make up for what I missed?"

"You will not be allowed to make up last week's session. However, as you know, the class is pass/fail, and your coursework thus far has been good enough to keep you above the failing mark with the missing grade, so the point is moot. The homework assignment for next week is to find a website you believe to be deviant and prepare a short essay on why. I expect you to complete the assignment to the best of your abilities."

"Okay," Angel said. "Is there a word count?"

Heh. No way man.

"It should be sufficiently lengthy to explain your reactions. You're a senior - I don't feel the need to assign you a word count."

"Okay," Angel said, never one for finding new words when the one he'd chosen suited his purposes just fine. He glanced towards the doorway. "Is there anything else, or...?"

"No," Grissom shook his head and then walked back around to take a seat. "You may go. Take some pie on the way out if you'd like..." The offer was delivered with a low, even tone, but there was a hint of sarcasm in his eyes.

"I'm, um, not much of an eater," Angel said apologetically. He stood up. "But thanks."

He left the room, wondering how on earth he was going to figure out how to track down a website.
