[The Doctor's expecting his 123 students to either stop by or leave him a voicemail this morning. He hums quietly to himself and bounces a little.]

Well, we have no idea when they're going to show up. [Ten rests his chin in his hand and sips some more coffee.] Could be tomorrow, could be months from now. My guess is that when they'll either move very fast or come up with some kind of complex and cunning plan that puts us off guard. Our defense...is NOT to be off guard. Understood? We keep constantly vigilant.

[He listens to what Jack has to say, brow furrowing.] And you were one of the few and the proud to be chosen.

Yeah. I don't know why. It never made any sense. I've got about five years to go before I could reasonably apply to the Acadamy, and then they popped up on my doorstep with the offer to come to Fandom High, saying that if I did it I'd be in.

Maybe they know something you don't. [The Doctor closes his eyes.] I can think of several reasons why they'd want someone here, someone in a student capacity. This place is a temporal madhouse.

They've got to know something I don't... because I don't know a damned thing. Maybe I could infiltrate them or something. You know, try to find out their secrets. [Jack brightens, thinking of this because he's a silly, silly boy.]

[Ten actually, literally facepalms.] Did I forget to mention the part where we Don't Do Stupid Things? Because if I didn't, I'm going to reiterate it now. Right now, at this moment, we are going to Wait.

[Jack makes a face at him.] Yeah. Right.

[He finishes off his coffee.] I was thinking of heading up to the dorms and goofing off with the Lego stuff there. But I'll be back before curfew. [Suddenly remembers:] I'm doing Safe Walk tomorrow and Sunday night, so if I'm back late, that's where I'll be.

[Ten nods.] That's fine, just...be cautious, Jack. Please. [It's not that much of a surprised to find that he does, in fact, actually care. About this Jack, not just the idea of Jack. He wonders if he'll ever be able to say it...so he just nods at him.]

[Ten nods again, feeling vaguely stupid about the whole nodding thing.] Of course. Here's my mobile number, if you need anything. [He scribbles on a piece of paper and then pushes it across to Jack.] Don't give that to all and sundry...that reminds me, I need to fix yours so it works in the TARDIS. Come find me tomorrow?

[Jack takes the paper and glances at the number, then puts it in his pocket.] Definitely. See ya. [Cheerfully, he heads out the door.]
