A/V - Theatre Tech Club Meeting: OPEN MIC NIGHT

The setup isn't fancy. The stage curtains are closed. There's a single microphone set up on the stage apron and a single spotlight trained on the curtain just behind it. At the back of the theatre are tables of refreshments: carafes of coffee and cocoa and mulled cider and hot water - and the tea bags and sugar and cream and lemon to go with, platters of cookies and brownies and meringues, bowls of chips and pretzels and trail mix, baskets of fruit. On the doors to the theatre are a pair of signs: a simple sign-up sheet for people who want to take part in the event and a large and colorful sign advertising its existance. There are a bunch more of these posted all around the school. Scooter stands just inside the door, waiting to greet people as they show up.

[OOC: This post will be open for play for at least the next 24 hours, even if it only covers four hours of Wednesday evening. Have fun, ok?]

Duce slides in, taking a seat in the back. She pulls out a sketchpad and kicks back, idly drawing the crowd.

Scooter slips in next to Duce when it looks like there's going to be a lull. "Hey, Duce. Looks like you could use some of this." He's holding a pair of cups containing a mixture of coffee and hot chocolate and a napkin full of meringues.

"Hey Scooter," Duce offered a wan smile, taking the cup of mochastuff and juggling her charcoal pencil to be able to take a meringue, "Thanks. Trips to the hospital always make my stomach feel gross, so I kinda forget to feed it." Nodding at the stage, she says, "Kinda quiet tonight. We have any regulars?"

"Well, there wasn't a real big crowd last time, but Tara and Boone and Zero all sang, so they might be back." He takes a sip from his drink and settles the napkin on his knee. "Some other people did some other stuff, but those were the highlights. I'm hoping for a bigger crowd tonight, since word will have had more time to spread this go-round."

Duce takes a sip of her drink and blinks, "Boone? Aaron Boone? He's not a student.." She takes a bite of her cookie. "Well, if Krycek doesn't show on his own, I'll text him and make him drag his guitar down here."

"Not sure what his full name was, but this guy was a student. I'm pretty sure. Didn't look old enough to be anything else." Scooter bites the cookie he's holding in half, then continues, "And it would be great if Krycek showed up - it's been far too long since I saw him last."

"Ah. So not Red's new hire. Cool. He's got the voice for it, but I think he'd look a little out of place here," Duce chuckles. Nibbling her cookie, she sips her mochastuff. "Alex definitely has to be here," A small smile played around her mouth, "He's got this streak of exhibitionism going these last few weeks.."

and if only she knew the whole of that..

"Yeah," Scooter agrees, grinning, "I heard him on the radio with Jake the other day. They did well. Even with the . . . interesting mix of songs people decided they wanted to hear."

Duce smiles wanly, "And you missed him at the leather show.. That was.. interesting."

"I'd guess it was," Scooter agreed, picking up another meringue. "They said they could handle the sound and lighting for that one on their own, though, so I skipped out."

Duce nodded, "I was handed a full crew for it, which was.. uh.. interesting. Draco and Bridge did a good job, though."

"I'm sure I would have heard about it if they hadn't," Scooter replied, smiling good-humoredly. "I'll have to see if either of them would like to work with the club on anything. Can't hurt, anyway."
