Study Hall -- Wednesday, November 16th

Pool table. Puppies. Kittens.

Also, in a bout of badly needed early practice strangely timed holiday cheer, Sarah has made a huge amount of Christmas cookies that are laid out on the front desk for taking.

(OOC: I love my new Christmastime icon. Wheeee! :))

Chloe makes a little "eep" noise, her eyes widening. "Oh wow, I almost forgot about Thanksgiving. Yeah, I imagine some people will be going home. Maybe time away will help."

"I'm taking Marty back to Pittsburgh," Angela says. "It should be ... interesting. Possibly dreadful, but interesting.

"Are you going home? And where is home for you, anyhow, other than the journalism classroom?"

"My home away from Journalism is in Kansas," Chloe says, laughing. "I might go home, I don't know. It's a long flight, but I do miss my dad.

"I'm sure things will be fine for you and Marty. Holidays bring out the worst in everyone, but they only last for a few days."

"If you can do it, you should go see your dad. Get away from the weirdness of this school," Angela advises.

"And yeah, I'm sure things *should* go okay over the holiday. It's just my parents are separating, so it's going to be a whole new not-fun experience."

"Oh Angela, I'm so sorry." Chloe leans over and gives her a hug. "It's a really good thing Marty will be there then, right?"

A little surprised but not ungrateful, Angela hugs Chloe back. "That's the hope," she says. "I mean ... I'm dealing with it. I'm just worried for my little sister, you know? And I don't like my dad's new girlfriend." She shrugs. "But it's all strangely minor compared to some of the stuff I hear at school."

"I'm so glad my dad never tried dating. I mean, I feel sort of bad sometimes, because I look at him, and he just seems lonely, even when I'm around. But I don't know if I would have been very good at having someone try to replace my mother." She gives a little shrug. "But if both of your parents are around, it might be easier on your sister than you think."

"Oh, god, I didn't know your mom was -- gone," Angela says. "I'm sorry."

"Oh, she's not...I mean, she's gone in the sense that she left when I was little," Chloe says, figuring Angela probably doesn't want or need to hear the rest of that sordid tale. "But she's not gone gone."

"It still sounds hard for you and your dad," Angela says sympathetically.

She glances at the clock on the wall of the room. "I should really run an errand in town before newspaper. See you later, okay?"

"It's gotten less hard over the years. But thank you," Chloe says, smiling.

She follows Angela's glance to the wall, noting how late it is. "Wow. I didn't realize we'd been here so long. I'll see you later."
