Zero is sorting books for shelving and listening to something very, very loud on her headphones. At least she's facing the door this time. From time to time, she casts a worried eye toward Special Collections, where Methos was last seen.

Aeryn shows up between classes, heading straight to the desk.

"Sun? What do you need?"

"Hi," she says. "John checked out a book for me. It's roughly 10,000 pages and I need to know what I have to do to keep it a little while longer."

Parker checks John's check-out history, then blinks. "It looks like he renewed it for you already it. You've got it for another two weeks." She cocks her head. "If you want more of the same, they're in the 940 section? Start with Sun Tzu. Primitive, but a genius."

"Oh," she says, surprised. "I didn't know. Thanks." She looks towards the shelves. "I think I may wait to tackle the other stuff, though."

"No problem. You're enjoying it, I take it?" Parker looks intrigued. "Is it much like your people's military history? I read some myself, on occasion."

"More primitive than what I'm used to, but I've seen similar weapons and tactics used on certain planets, so there's some basis for comparison," she says. "I didn't know you read military history."

"On occasion. I don't plan on joining the military, but there are good strategies on how to deal with employees and assets in those kinds of materials." Parker shrugs. "The one I just recommended being a case in point. 'On desperate ground, tell your men their lives are lost. They will fight their way free.'"

Aeryn opens her mouth to contradict that, then reconsiders. "Actually, he makes a good point."

Parker cocks an eyebrow, surprised. "Have you been in combat?"

"Several times. You tell a soldier it doesn't matter whether or not they live through the battle, but they still tend to make it back regardless," she shrugs.

For once, Parker looks impressed. "I'm... surprised. How old were you? And, if you don't mind me asking-- what was going on?"

"It's only been within the last cycle or so. Mainly dealing with a civil war that had broken out, and we had to settle it because they wouldn't. And then, of course, there were the zombies," she says.

"Right, we've all fought zombies," Parker says in a dry voice, then tilts her head in thought. "So your people went in as-- peacekeepers. I think I heard someone, maybe John? Mention that before."

Aeryn nods. "That's pretty much what we do. With that, you've probably heard my life story."

Parker quirks an eyebrow. "I'd hope there's something more than just that...."

"It's the basics. Training, fighting. The scenery changes," she adds, but there's nothing in her tone to suggest that she doesn't love it.

"You're family's military, I take it? Like Adama's?" Parker asks, then bites her lip. "Wait, never mind. I forgot what we talked about on Parent's Weekend."

"It's not exactly what people expect, so it's easy to forget," she says. "I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here with this sort of background."

"More than likely." Parker looks curious. "We must seem very odd, to you."

"You have no idea," Aeryn says dryly. "It's better than I expected here. I'm not climbing the walls trying to get out."

He came in an' renewed it a little while ago. Good luck sloggin' through the rest of it. I could barely pick the squallin' thing up to scan it in.

"I think I'm getting half my workout from this," she admits. "Thanks."
