Philosophy 101- Week #3- Period 4

When it came to these weekends, Jaye had always gotten off pretty easy. The worst she did was go house hunting? Yes, please. That didn't mean she wasn't pissed at herself today because that had kept her from doing things like getting photographic evidence of everyone else embarrassing themselves.

Which meant that when the students in the Danger Shop showed up to the theater today, she greeted them with, "So if that was your first time going through weird stuff this weekend, congratulations, you got through it. If it wasn't... well, today's a movie day."

They were all movie days, Jaye.

"Today we're watching meta for The Truman Show, which is totally on the nose and I'm not sorry for it. And if you really want like, philosophy stuff to do, write up a thing on how this weekend changed yours and hand it in next week." She hoped no one did it. She never wanted to grade anything.

Look, her presence hadn't been unwanted earlier either, she'd just left. And he'd been sulky and too hot. Shhhhh. He was forgetting that part.

"Hey," he murmured as not to disturb anyone else and it seemed like a good place to start.

"Hi," she returned, leaning back against the seat and reaching for his hand. Hey, it was better than her asking if he missed her, which she was sorely tempted to do.

He blinked, but there was no hesitation as he tangled his fingers with hers.

"Okay?" he asked because he was going for one-worded communication at the moment. His thumb was brushing the inside of her wrist was supposed to make up for it.

"I'd be better if the popcorn didn't suck," she said, smiling slightly. It was good she had coffee so she wasn't tempted to snack.

Jake had no problem with the popcorn, but then he seemed to be willing to eat just about anything.

"We can get some good popcorn later," he suggested.

"Yeah? Are you gonna take me to the movies?" It seemed so normal and not like them.

It did and he glanced over at her. "We could go to the movies if you'd like. Are they playing anything you'd like?"

Like Caroline knew what was playing at the movies. Luckily her phone knew everything. "We'll find something. Maybe with a hot guy blowing stuff up so there's something for both of us," she teased.

"And here I was thinking I'm all the hot guy you need to keep yourself entertained," he teased, glad that the crabbiness of earlier seemed to have disappeared.

She smirked over at him before leaning against his shoulder. "You are, but otherwise I'd be too distracting while you were trying to pay attention.

Unlike during this movie, which was obviously not going to hold her attention.

And it wasn't even a bad movie like the previous couple of weeks.

"Since when have I minded that?" he wondered, unable to think of an example. He had his priorities straight, thank you very much.

"Since never," she admitted, leaning against his shoulder to watch the stupidity unfold on screen. What? She preferred The Notebook.
