Library, Sunday 01/08

Raven was glad to still have Sundays as her library shift. She'd gotten used to the routine, and the days were usually relatively quiet, so she could get some of her own research done.

She had a pile of dusty books sitting on the desk in front of her and was flipping through each in turn, scanning the text and pausing only to write down a few notes on the paper to her right. So far, however, it wasn't going well.

"Uh huh," he nodded, doing some quick juggling to ensure there were no spilled-drink-crisises in the library. "It's good to see you too."

"Things have worked out that you could return to classes here?" Raven asked, letting go of Bobby and taking a step back. "Or are you just here for a visit?"

She was really hoping for the first option.

"That first thing," Bobby confirmed. For an... interesting definition of 'worked out', but Fandom had definitely been the better option, all things considered.

"You have been very missed, and I am glad you are back," Raven said.

She reached for the coffee Bobby had set down. "And this is for me? Thank you."

"Well, I figured just in case you weren't glad to see me, I'd better sweeten the deal." Except Bobby had been perfectly aware that Raven would be pleased that he'd returned.

Raven laughed lightly. "There was no fear of that, I assure you," she said. "I am very pleased that you have returned, and I hope you never have to rush off again. Particularly without saying goodbye."

Yes, there was just a hint of a scolding in her voice there. Just a tiny hint. She understood why he'd had to go.

"Yeah, well," Bobby ran a hand through his hair and dropped his gaze down to the floor. "Everything kinda happened way too fast. And I tried to call you, really, when it all- went down. Stupid phone wouldn't connect." Which he now knew was most likely the result of the Auditors tampering with the multiverse.

"And that was certainly beyond your control," Raven said, thinking the same thing as her smile momentarily faded.

But it quickly returned. "But you are here now, and that is what matters," she said. "Welcome back."

"Thanks," he grinned at her. "I'm just glad War didn't end up with a new roommate while I was gone. Cause having to find a new place to live woulda sucked."

"That was going to be my next question," Raven said. "I am certain that must make returning easier. What classes will you be taking this semester?"

"Leadership, with Scott. He made me his TA," which was... a bit weird and yet not. "And Chasing History's Monsters," which got a bitchface out of him, more due to the presence of a certain classmate on the roster than the actual subject matter.

Like that was going to escape Raven's notice. "You do not want to be in that class?" she asked curiously.

"Not if it involves being in the same room as Loki." Did the room just get noticeably chillier? Yes, yes it did. Thanks for that, Bobby.

Raven shivered and rubbed her arms. "Who is that?" she asked. She knew the name belonged to a god out of Norse legend, but she wasn't expecting it to be an actual deity. Then again, this was Fandom.

Bobby noticed the shivering and gave Raven a sheepish look. "Sorry," he apologized, taking a moment to bring the temperature back up. "He's a god. The god of mischief and lies, to be exact." That the Norse and Greek pantheons were more than just myths wasn't even the weirdest thing about Bobby's reality. Santa Claus? Also real. Just ask Steve. He'd rescued him from Hitler that one time!

Please, in another reality, Raven frequently went up against the parents of the Greek gods.

"The actual god, not someone who is just named for him?" Raven said, frowning and making a note to check out some books on Norse theology. She'd studied various human religions while in Azarath, but not in depth.

"The actual god," Bobby confirmed. He hadn't been sure himself at first, given how Loki had looked rather... different the last time he'd seen him. But Alex's reaction to his presence had made it pretty obvious, so.

"Do you think he is a danger to the island?" Raven asked. "Should we alert the principal? Or tell Professor Skywalker?" Because surely he had to know of this!

Bobby, on the other hand, was firmly anti-letting-adults-know-what-was-going-on. "I don't think so," Bobby sighed. "I know so. But Cable most likely knows he's here," because Cable seemed to be freakishly aware of just about everything that went on in Fandom. "And if he's letting him stay on the island, then I guess there's a reason for it." Bobby just didn't have to like it.

"If he attempts to do you or anyone else on this island any harm, I will do what I can to stop him," Raven said firmly. God or no god, she wouldn't let him get away with hurting someone she cared for.

"He and I don't have the best history, so I'm glad you've got my back," Bobby said, giving her a grateful smile.

"Always," Raven said with an answering smile. "You are my friend and therefore dear to me, and there is little I would not be willing to do for someone I care for."
