There was a library and a very cheerful redhead wandering around therein.

Cassidy was excited to be a library aide again and was showing this by making herself familiar with the layout of the library again. Once she had done that and shelved the books that needed to be taken care of, she went back to settle herself behind the desk.

She had one of the books that Ender had suggested for her, but she would be willing to stop studying to help you with any of your library needs.

She was cheerful and would be very happy to help you!

"I wish to see the Special Collections." Why yes, Tara had informed him that a teacher's consent was necessary. Lacking that wouldn't stop him from trying, of course.

Cassidy gave him a friendly smile as she closed her book to look up at him.

"I'm sorry, but no one is allowed in Special Collections without the permission of a teacher or of Lady Belle."

"Not even to check?" Look at that smile, Cassidy. He was every so trustworthy.

Oh she saw the smile and thought he was very cute. However ...

"Not even just to check, I'm afraid." And she really did sound apologetic. "But there are very careful guidelines that are put in place about Special Collections."

And Loki wouldn't want to get her fired, did he?

Would it further any plans of his?--He meant no! Not at all!

"Is it really that dangerous?"

She gave him a sweet smile, considering how to phrase what she had heard.

"It's a special place and things have been known to happen that no one has ever expected." After all, she had only been told about how the remaining Fandomites took shelter in there during the last invasion. "I think that there must be reasons that Lady Belle and Principal Winchester insist on the rules they have."

She tilted her head. "And I apologize for not introducing myself right away. I'm Cassidy."

"I am Loki," he replied, glancing further into the library as though to gauge the peril that lay within. "In my estimation, special places are the best to find what you need."

She didn't show any recognition about the name, sorry, Loki.

"Perhaps, but there is Protocol for every situation and the Protocol for this one says that I must adhere to the rules if I do not wish to get into some kind of trouble."

Look how sweet she was about having to say no, Loki! She doesn't like to disappoint.

"Protocol is dull," he replied, perhaps a bit sulkily.

Oh Loki.

Cassidy stiffened slightly and raised her chin when he said that. Even though she was still trying to be nice and friendly, her eyes had turned a darker green.

"Protocol is not dull," she said as nicely as she could while trying to remind herself that not everyone would understand why saying something like that would offend her. "Protocol and diplomacy is what makes most things in the world flow smoothly and helps to keep bad things from happening. In my world, Protocol is honored and more than that, it is what keeps things in balance."

It was probably a good thing that neither Shira or Karla were not hearing this conversation. Cassidy was the sweet one!

"And it is dull in my world," Loki replied with a huff. "Where they are more apt to fight each other like angry rams than sit and discuss."

A beat.

"Which also tends to be dull, but mine brother is fond of it."

"Angry rams?" Cassidy tilted her head and gave him a confused look. "They would rather act like sheep than discuss and learn?"

"Few creatures are more stubborn than a ram, dear lady," Loki replied. "Save for a goat. Ill-tempered and filthy as they are."

No, Cassidy. You will not tell the new boy that males could be just as stubborn as goats.

"At least you are spared from such ill-tempered beings like that here." Said the one who did not listen to radio. "It must be a nice change for you." Yes, there was her cheerful disposition again.

It was no less true, though!

"There are some who are no better than goats on two legs," Loki replied. Because he had opinions about Alex. And possibly Bobby. "Bleating and wandering through life."

"Those must be very unhappy people then," Cassidy decided. "If they are happier ... bleating ... then perhaps they have just not come across anything that interests them enough to break out of their behaviors?"

"It is sad." Really, Loki? "I suppose I should help them find another way..."

Nooooooooo!

Cassidy perked up even more at the idea of helping someone.

"Perhaps you should," she agreed cheerfully. "It would probably make them feel like better people if you assist them in finding something that makes them happier."

Somewhere, there were people thudding their heads into desks or walls at this line of reasoning.

This would be what happens when no one explains to Cassidy about different gods.

"Would you have any suggestions?"

Cassidy thought about that for a moment and then grinned, almost bouncing a little in her chair.

"Find them a hobby? I've heard that having something new and fascinating to focus on can help a person be happier or think more clearly." She tilted her head again. "Maybe try to share some of your interests with them?"

"I fear their trust in me is lacking for such exploits," Loki replied sadly. Because for some reason a trickster wasn't taken at his word. Madness, right?

Madness indeed!

"How could they not trust you when they haven't had much of a chance to get to know who you really are?" Cassidy was mildly outraged on his behalf. "If these people are students here, then they have no right to form judgements about you when you have only been here for a week."

Cassidy, Loki really doesn't need you to champion him.

No, but it was terribly sweet of her. Naive and sweet.

"My name comes with a reputation, I fear." That was putting it mildly, Loki. "For the deeds of my predecessor."

She got that a lot.

"It is wrong for you to be judged on the deeds of someone who had the same name and came before you," Cassidy said firmly. "I've seen it happen before and I don't like it. It's not right and it's not fair to you."

"Do you truly believe so?"

Cassidy nodded. "Yes, I very much do. You are not the name, Loki. You are yourself and no one should judge you on deeds of the past and what came before."

"I believe we shall be BFFs, Cassidy," Loki chirped brightly. He'd always wanted a BFF!

She didn't really know what the term meant, but she liked the sound of it!

"I believe we shall, Loki!" She was bouncing a little in her seat over the idea that she had made him happy. "When I'm not here, I can usually be found in room 203."

THERE WOULD BE BRACELETS AND TIME SPENT DISCUSSING SUCH TOPICS AS BOYS. AND RULING OVER PEOPLE.

"I be certain to find you," Loki replied, waving with both hands. Because it's the best way to say goodbye to your new BFF.

IT WOULD BE AWESOME.

Cassidy waved back. "Bye Loki! Have a nice day and I'll see you again soon."

Talk to the librarian if she's around and not busy with something.

It always said 1/7. Really, it did!
