Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

The lawn in front of the school was a little bigger than it had been at picnics in the past (thank you, people with positive memories), so there was plenty of space for the blue and gold tables and chairs that got pulled out for every event. A bonfire had been lit in the middle of the lawn, for those who weren't quite prepared for the east coast in December, and there were tables set away from the crowd as well, for those who might want a more quiet place to sit.

"I think the bruises are memorable," Hercules said. "So obviously someone thought you weren't as forgettable as you wish."

Hercules snorted a laugh at that one. "Well, Ares' sons are known for punching things. It's in their blood."

He tilted his head. "So did you insult his mother or something equally foolish, oh forgettable-one?"

"After he started hitting me, I may have." He deserved it! "Like a rabid dog, that one."

"I'll have to keep my eyes out for that one," Hercules said, not having encountered the offending son of the War god himself. "I take it someone intervened to save him from your wrath?"

"I didn't say you did," Hercules pointed out, amused by this. "I wasn't being sarcastic... okay, I was possibly being a little, but you don't strike me as a fist-fighter."

That got another guffaw out of the son of Zeus. He even slapped his knee. "Well, I have heard sticks and stones can break bones," he said. "So it is a good weapon to wield."

"What is it you're teaching here?" Loki asked after a moment. Then poked at the bruise on his cheekbone. He had to go to school with someone capable of actually harming him, didn't he?

"Practical Mythology!" Hercules said, puffing out his barrel chest a bit with pride. "It will be covering the greatest hits of the Greek stories. Which all happened, of course. Especially that which happened to me."
