Library [12/9]

Books. Coffee on a little wheely cart. Even some non-crumbly snacks set out on a table in the hall, with a little placard set up reading, "Do not bring near the books."

And the research continued.

Ender looked up at her. "Since when?" he asked. "How many of them?"

He hadn't been out of the building in two days. Maybe more.

"Too many," she said bluntly. "Hundreds, if not more. With an unholy fondness for pointing pitchforks at people and wanting to open people up to see how they work."

"Parts of the island are going, too, and quickly. Jack and I left the house just in time."

"Loon Drive." Emma's voice was the same remote tone that usually only fell past her lips when she was wearing a different skin or working some complicated telepathic weaving. "On the bright side, it seems to have taken care of the majority of our pest infestation."

So not a lot of time, then.

Ender resolved not to let that bother him, and picked up the coffee. His hand gave a little tremble, but he got it under control. "We need to figure out where the epicenter is. The eye of the storm, as it were."
