Books. Coffee on a little wheely cart. Even some non-crumbly snacks set out on a table in the hall, with a little placard set up reading, "Do not bring near the books."

And the research continued.

"No food near the books," he chided her, moving both to the edge of the desk.

"Then take a two-minute break and eat something. Or swear to me you did that within the last four hours," Kenzi demanded. Then grinned. "I won't go away until you do."

Kenzi reached over to put her hand in the middle of the page. "Two. Minutes."

"In an hour," Wesley said firmly.

"In one minute, so you can finish the page," Kenzi said even more firmly. She pulled her hand back. "Fifty-nine seconds...."

See that? That was a sad, exhausted attempt at a stern glare.

And that was a placid determined look of someone who had actually slept recently.
