Library, Tuesday

The Library was open slightly later than usual, and Rinoa had to hope that Belle was not going to mind that she had brought along her Knight. She would lie and say it was for protection, if necessary, so she didn't have to admit that the phone call he had received had shaken her up too much to want to leave his side.

... some other them had died. Had been swallowed by the nothing ...

It would have been tempting to call off, but at times like this, the library needed to be open, for researchers, and so she was here, with coffee, and with Squall in tow, and hoping no one noticed that her eyes were red-rimmed.

Oh, that was ridiculous. Considering all who had gone missing, no one was going to care if her eyes were red-rimmed.

Early in the afternoon, Seifer stopped by the library with half a dozen chocolate chocolate chip muffins. Yes, he was bringing Rinoa treats.

He was side-tracked when he saw Squall, and one glance at Rinoa told him something was up, so he headed for the one least likely to start crying.

"Who did we lose?"

"Everyone," Squall answered without looking up. "And no one. It was a alternate universe." He shrugged.

Squall shrugged and pulled out his phone. He queued up the message he'd gotten (http://whateverknight.livejournal.com/846.html?thread=220494#t220494) and held the phone out for Seifer. "Yeah."

Seifer listened to the message, and then handed it back. He had to swallow hard a few times to keep his lunch down.

"I take it back. This is beyond fucked."

Squall nodded. "Yeah. This whole situation is. How are you holding up?"

"Avoiding calling Garden. Not sure I want to get a call like that, ever." And now he was worried about Squall, which was just weird.

"Worried about Rinoa now."

Squall nodded. "Me, too. And everyone else. I'm not sure what we're going to do." He shrugged. "I think at this point, avoiding phone calls is a good idea."

Seifer nodded and set the package from the bakery on the nearest table. "I'm thinking I should have brought alcohol and not muffins."
