Study Hall -- Tuesday, November 1st

Sarah's desk is empty save for a huge stack of papers and a plastic cauldron full of leftover candy. Sarah is nowhere to be seen, although occasionally strange growling noises can be heard from both her office down the hall and under the study hall desk.

"It was like a joke, he was reading Watership Down and we were joking around about bunnies and well I saw this little stuffed rabbit and thought he'd like it." She looks at Maia smiling "seriously, don't tell him I told you, he likes to act all mannly in public."

Maia smiled "I won't I promise. I think he would like the pig only dont tell him its symbolic." She smiled again. "I'm going to the emporium later to see if they have playdough and that silly stuff." Maia beamed flipping a page in her notebook.

Paige laughs "no I won't. So you're releasing your inner child then huh? Only be careful cos you know in this place an inner child might actually get released!

Instantly in Maias head she heard Shawns screaming and she saw herself eight years old again in the dark. Maia trembled slightly and squeezed her eyes shut for a moment and opened them relieved to be awake still. Her voice cracked a little "Oh yeah" She tried to laugh it off. "I just I wanted to have some for just whenever you know." Her voice was haunted sounding even though she knew Paige had been kidding she supressed a shudder.

"Maia are you ok? Did I say something wrong?" she asks looking concerned

Maia looked down at her notebook. "N-no your fine. Just, bad thought for a moment. They sometimes get in when I am not expecting it." Maia said smiling up at Paige now. "No worries ok?" She wrote on her page for a moment and then said "Don't ever be afraid of saying something to me ok. Really, you can't say the wrong things when you talking to friends." Maia was trying to reassure Paige she was ok.

Paige smiles at her "Don't worry Maia you're safe here."

Maia seemed to melt from Paiges understand and tact. Tears of relief started to form. She simply nodded at Paige and gave her a blurry smile.

Paige gets momentarily distracted as Jonathan walks in, then she looks back at Maia handing her a tissue

Maia laughed softly. "Go ahead I have to finish this." She indicated her paper.

She watches him go over to Draco, "no I can't he's very shy, he wouldn't want people talking about us. I'll see him some other time."

Maia smiled and nodded working on her paper now. After about ten minutes she turns her attention back to Paige. "Why do you care? What people think I mean."

Paige was working on her homework for poetry "Me? I don't care, but he's really sensitive you know, so I figure I'll justlet him come speak to me when he wants to."

Lana comes in. "Hi guys, how are you doing?"

Paige smiles "hey Lana, I'm good. Just trying to do some homework Geoff, sorry Professor Chaucer set us."

Lana winces. "Ooh, that's got to be awkward."

"It's actually suprising ok, I-I even offered to T.A for him, I'm not really sure what got into me to be honest, I just know what he's like, he could use someone to help him out a bit and I mean knowing him as wellas I do I figured we'd work well together. Only I've not told James yet," she says smiling when she says his name

"How do you think James will take it? I mean, I know you guys have an open relationship and all, but he's got to be aware of how you feel about Geoff."

"I'm not sure really I mean it wouldn't mean anything me T.Aing for him, so I think he'd be ok."

She lowers her voice a little "he told me he loved me yesterday."

"Hey, Maia," Lana says with a smile.

"Hey Lana. How are you?" Maia closes her notebook and grins.

"I'm good." Lana smiled, then became more serious. "I decided I'm going to go over to the greenhouse again today. I don't really know what to think about... well... *everything*... but I... I haven't felt so comfortable anywhere since I've been here. I figure I can go over, immerse myself in plants - repotting or weeding or something - and just get out of my own head." She looks at Maia nervously, "What do you think about it?"

Maia thought for a few moments. "I think considering everything that you've been through this last week, drama with myself included, that that is the best thing you can do." Maia smiles and then leans forward "I'm going to buy playdough after class today and maybe some of that fun-silly putty."

Lana grins, "Really? You should bring it up to my room tonight and we can play. I have a whole empty room in the West Attic, we could make it our game room, sort of."

Maia grins "I will" She is terribly excited by this prospect
