Library [11/18]

At his father's insistence -- and, to be fair, a bit because after the past weekend, it felt like the thing to do -- Wesley was working on his Oxford application in the library today. This would have been easier if the library didn't keep hiding his coffee, but, well. He knew better than to expect that.

"I don't believe so," Wesley answered absently, flipping through the book he'd chosen. He wasn't sure what exactly he was looking for -- susceptibility to anomalies, maybe -- but that didn't stop him from paging through as if he had a purpose. "So... something with the island, then?" he guessed. "Or, well, no, if portals to your home are still running... hmm. Very odd."

"And you can get to L.A., too," she reminded him. "I don't think it's just the island. There are a bunch of other places named in the email, so ..."

She sighed. "I think it's some kind of interdimensional ... extreme weirdness."

Because that was the scientific term.

"Very troubling," he assessed.

Because understatements were a thing sometimes.

"I don't suppose you'd like to look through some of these texts with me?" he offered.

"If you think I can help," Tara said, finding a chair. "I read Latin, a little?"

Some part of her was almost excited by the geek opportunities.

"Here you are, then," he said, handing over a particularly dusty Latin volume. "Do let me know if you find anything useful?"

While meanwhile, he flipped through one in Aramaic. Show-off.

Tara nodded silently, absorbed in her reading.

She kept getting distracted by lengthy passages about horrible things that had happened at ancient hellmouths, and by anything about dimensions without shrimp. But she was trying.
