Aesthetics of Badassery [Monday, Period One]

"Morning, class," Bond began, having told the class to meet him at J,GoBs this morning, where pretty much every possible kind of sticky, sweet, or savory breakfast pastry waited for them. Also pie. Which totally made it a balanced breakfast there. "Given how stressful Parent's Weekend usually is, I felt that it would be best if we focused on a subtler kind of badassery today, building on the idea of developing your palates more."

In other words, comfort food was badass and don't try to disagree with Bond there.

Never mind that Jeremy had spent much of the weekend devouring the contents of the gift basket the Darlings had sent instead of showing up: comfort food was still totally badass.

He picked a bunch of stuff to eat with his coffee.

Much of Bobby was relieved that yet again his mother had visited Fandom and not immediately yanked him and Jack back to Hart. Especially given the whole 'aesthetics of badassery' class. Um,

The other part of him was worried about the whole 'drama' he'd been told about and might've been sneaking totally not so subtle glances in the direction of Caroline and Jacob.

Bobby wasn't much for coffee (what? it stunted your growth!), but he would be happy to partake in tasty baked goods and juice.

After a while though, he went up to get a cup of coffee. Because it was a class about being more badass after all.

Food was good, it covered up for the fact that Jake couldn't talk to everyone in this class. Whether giving a cranky werewolf a sugar overload was smart was a different matter, but Jake was steadily making his way through the pile of food.

Food. God, Caroline barely remembered eating all weekend, but now? She mostly just sat there, picking at her favorite pastry and finding she had little to no appetite at all.

If her eyes were desperately not looking at a certain individual, it was just to keep herself from bursting into tears again. No one wanted to see that in class. Especially not around baked goods.

Caroline glanced up at Bobby, somehow managing to avoid looking at Jake, even though she was certain his glare was trained on them. "No thanks. It's fine, I'm just not hungry."

He really felt the need to point out the obvious, didn't he? Caroline sighed, finding the strength not to be sarcastic with him. "Yes, Bobby, because I'm upset. Are you going to turn into a puppy again to make me feel better?"

Oh God, Jake would kill him for that.

"If I could, I would?" Bobby offered. "But I don't think that kind of thing happens when it's convenient." He looked down, scuffing his toe. "I'm sorry you're upset. I know I can't really help with anything, but I'm here if there's anything I can do?"

It was kind of awful how nice he was being to her and how completely undeserving Caroline felt. She sighed, resting her cheek against her hand as she leaned against the table. "You're sweet. I honestly don't think anyone can help, but I will take any distractions you've got."

Well crap, he hadn't actually had a plan. "Well, I could show you how to play Mission to Mars, but I don't think that's probably your thing so much," Bobby said thoughtfully.

"Is that like, some astronaut game?" Caroline checked, brows lifting in concerned curiosity. Seriously, this kid needed to do something to kill the nerd vibe. But hey, points for distraction!

"Yes!" he answered, pleased that she asked. "You have to plan the mission and try to bring the right stuff? And then actually fly the ship and land it perfectly or you lose some of your supplies or destroy the mission entirely."
