Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Once people got through their introductions and initial brain breaking, some of them would surely want to sit down. Luckily, there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn, some in the shade, some out in the open, some close to the buffet, and some in as much of a shadowy corner as one could get in an outdoor space with no actual walls. It was all part of the Fandom experience, really.

[OCD is up! This is the FIRST post for general mingling. Please use this post first, if your browser can handle the comment load. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here and there's more room for mingling here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

So it was the first one. "But you're not a thirteen-year-old girl!"

"Really not, no." Toby raised an eyebrow at her. "What does that have to do with anything?"
wasthecuteone: (doubtful Petra is doubtful)

"Most of our fans were thirteen-year-old girls?" Of course, Sinjin hadn't been, but he was an outlier in a lot of ways. Like being totally fine with his girlfriend having a penis. Why were they on a break again? Oh, right: school. Which might have turned out to be an asylum...

And yes. She did just think all of that.

"Most of-" Toby broke off, and he was just going to gape at Petra for a moment or two here. "Seriously. Seriously? You're saying you're-" he broke off, not sure how to finish that sentence.

She sighed the sigh of the long-suffering and admitted, "Was. JT Woodland."

"And now you're all," vague curvy hand-gesture meant to imitate the female form. "Whoa." He blinked. "Why?" He didn't mean to be rude, but this was outside his realm of experience, here.

She gave him a disbelieving look. "Because I'm a girl?"

"...You really are," Toby said, in the tone of someone who just had that metaphorical lightbulb-over-their-head flicked on.
wasthecuteone: (seriously?)

"Yes," Petra said, "I really am. So glad you could get with the program." It was only a little sarcastic. Some people took way longer. And some people just continued to be assholes indefinitely.

Well, it helped that she thought like a girl. Not that 'girl thoughts' was something quantifiable that he could describe if asked, it was more... even with the acknowledgement of having-a-penis, there had been nothing in the snippets of thoughts he'd picked up that gave the impression that Petra was a guy dressing like a girl. "What can I say? Sometimes I'm a bit slow on the uptake." A beat. "And this isn't an asylum," he reiterated.

"Jury's still out on that one," Petra told him. "The 'this isn't an asylum,' part, I mean. But I'll make a note of your opinion."
