Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Once people got through their introductions and initial brain breaking, some of them would surely want to sit down. Luckily, there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn, some in the shade, some out in the open, some close to the buffet, and some in as much of a shadowy corner as one could get in an outdoor space with no actual walls. It was all part of the Fandom experience, really.

"Good advice in the form of a threat," Ender said, a laugh in his eyes, even if he didn't voice it.

He was rediscovering the bits of Karla he had missed, even if it was just a little.

"She was being rude," Karla sniffed. "To guests."

Guests there to beg a boon, but whatever. Details.

"I was tempted to send her to Naboo, so she could see what real hospitality looked like."

Not that Karla hadn't threatened people on Naboo. Usually Ben. But then, he'd had it coming.

"She'd have been welcome to visit," Ender replied, "But somehow I don't think phrasing it quite like that would have helped your efforts much."

Karla sighed. "And if she just vanished, her Court probably would have eaten us."

Crazy, that.

"But it was ultimately a successful negotiation. And not just because we escaped getting eaten, mauled, or maimed!"

Oh, Darkness, she really was part Skywalker.

Ender gave her a look.

"Should I ask Ben if his family has misplaced a daughter?" he asked.

"Hey, I said 'not just because,'" Karla protested. "That makes me a cousin at best."

"I withhold judgement on that until you wind up in a situation where you can lose a limb," Ender decided. "When did you want to do movie night? Tuesday?"

Karla paused, a moment, mentally rearranging her schedule a bit, then nodded. "Tuesday night would be great," she said. "Bring a back up movie in case Ben decides to make us watch something terrible."

Hey! Maybe Karla could bring some cookies!

"Oh, he'll probably make us watch the car movies," Ender assured her. "I've already warned him about them."

"We outnumber him," Karla pointed out. "I could hold him off while you change the film if it gets that bad."

Karla knew she couldn't take him in a fight, but she was pretty sure she could cling to him like a barnacle and generally make a nuisance of herself.
