Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
Some parts of the East Coast might have been freaking out about a hurricane, but there was no such madness going on in Fandom. Sure, it was a little hot out, with the sun shining and not much breeze happening, but all the milk and toilet paper on the island was safe, and that was important, right? Besides, once the new folks started learning about their new home, there'd be more than enough freaking out to go around.
The usual main attraction had been set up first: a large buffet of food and drinks had been laid out next to all the information the new arrivals would need, and then the blue and gold tables and chairs had been arranged across the rest of the lawn. Everything was just about done when the shuttle arrived, and it was time for a picnic once again.
[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

[Loading pages would be nice LJ]
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
She had no idea if a messenger dove trained for Rome could find his particular home, but she could certainly offer.
"That is, presuming that you don't mind rooming with a dove, or with a Borgia, either."
(There were Varnish Errors earlier. It's like someone paid LJ to suck.)
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
"So long as it stays on your side of the room it should be fine." And because he did have to ask "Borgia as in Rodrigo?"
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
Doves were perfect for intrigue and cloak-and-dagger messaging. His father might appreciate the showmanship.
She flushed, bowing her head once. "I suppose I don't have to ask if you've heard of Rome, then," she said. "He's my father. Are you especially interested in occupants of the papal throne?"
Five hundred years seemed a long time for the Borgia notoriety to have lingered.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
"More of a case of my father's interest in historical politics. Dad's a big believer in learning from history." Which was one way of refferring to the lectures Lex got on all people whose example he was supposed to follow. Everyone bought the papacy back then, but Rodrigo Borgia, he had style.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
"Does that mean you could teach me?" she asked. "I shouldn't like to know my future. But protecting one's interests in Rome -- it's like playing chess with half the board covered up."
And if he had studied the era, he might have a unique perspective on it.
(I must crash. SP?)
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
"I can try." No matter how much Lex didn't want to be like his father, Lionel's lessons tended to stick. "But so far I've barely managed to survive high school. I do know how to play chess though."
[Sure!]
