Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
Some parts of the East Coast might have been freaking out about a hurricane, but there was no such madness going on in Fandom. Sure, it was a little hot out, with the sun shining and not much breeze happening, but all the milk and toilet paper on the island was safe, and that was important, right? Besides, once the new folks started learning about their new home, there'd be more than enough freaking out to go around.
The usual main attraction had been set up first: a large buffet of food and drinks had been laid out next to all the information the new arrivals would need, and then the blue and gold tables and chairs had been arranged across the rest of the lawn. Everything was just about done when the shuttle arrived, and it was time for a picnic once again.
[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
She was slowly coming to the realization that she might be the only person from her world here at all, which was both a huge relief and terrifying.

Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
Drogon wandered over from sniffing the ground near Daenerys' feet and wound his tail around her leg, sniffing out at Petra while the other two dragons played.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
Petra was outwardly cheerful and pleasant, but her mind was running at high speed. If she was going to stick around--which she was currently unsure on--she had two: tell Daenerys she was trans, and hope she didn't freak out, or try, 'I believe in old-school modesty so I can't change in front of you.' She didn't want to lie, but she didn't want to freak out her obviously-not-from-around-here roommate, either. Who knew what they thought about trans people in Westeros?
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
But then, neither had anyone in Westeros for years. And as it was, Daenerys was silently hoping the other girl didn't make her keep the dragons out all the time. She'd lost Drogo and Rhaego; they were all she had of her husband and child now. But then, she wasn't sure whether to speak of them, either -- Dany was still young enough to have not been married, and no one seemed to be assuming she ever had been.
If only
they could read one another's narrativeshe'd realized how nervous Petra was, too, she probably would have oddly felt more at ease. All od Daenerys' secrets were building inside her and making her dizzy.Re: Meet Your Roommate [Fall 2011]
Where was Deadpool when you needed him?Petra was dizzy more from all the crazy than her secrets, but those were definitely going to be an issue.
