Some parts of the East Coast might have been freaking out about a hurricane, but there was no such madness going on in Fandom. Sure, it was a little hot out, with the sun shining and not much breeze happening, but all the milk and toilet paper on the island was safe, and that was important, right? Besides, once the new folks started learning about their new home, there'd be more than enough freaking out to go around.

The usual main attraction had been set up first: a large buffet of food and drinks had been laid out next to all the information the new arrivals would need, and then the blue and gold tables and chairs had been arranged across the rest of the lawn. Everything was just about done when the shuttle arrived, and it was time for a picnic once again.

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Guy paused for a moment, going over that in his head. "...that was almost some philosophical crap, wasn't it?"

"Almost," Alistair agreed, cheerfully, "but it's hard to stay philosophical when you're throwing up. I felt like a kid learning to ride again."

Oh, Guy. Laughing was just mean. "Really?"

"It moves!" Alistair protested. "More than it should!"

"How much should it move then?" Oh, Alistair. You picked the wrong friend for caring and understanding.

"...Less," Alistair said, firmly.

"Wait until you're on a plane." Don't be cruel, Guy.

Being a sensible Ferelden boy, Alistair answered with an intelligent, "A what?"

"Like a car that travels in the air." A beat. "Only much faster."

Alistair pulled a face. "Don't think I'll be trying that any time soon," he said.

"Aw, c'mon," Guy said, smacking him on the arm. "You can't get everywhere on a horse."

Said the guy who could fly.

"No, but I can go to plenty of places that suit me just fine," Alistair argued. "I'd have grown a pair of wings if I was supposed to get all the way up there."

"Sayin' that here is tempting fate," Guy reminded him.

Alistair pulled a face. "You might be right," he said. "If I'm going to be tempting fate, I'd rather tempt it about something better than that. Like... 'I hope my armor doesn't turn to cheese'."

Guy took a careful step back. Just in case. "You have weird likes."

"You can't go wrong with cheese," Alistair argued.

"Oh, I'm pretty sure you can. It could be some freaky alien cheese that makes you hallucinate."

Not that this had ever happened to him, of course.

Alistair blinked at him. "Has that ever happened to you?" he said. "I'm almost afraid to ask. I like eating cheese. Don't ruin it for me."

"Then don't ask." It was a simple solution.
