Rinoa had resigned herself to gloves for the time being. She still thought that maybe the claws were just taking a while to fade out. Well, she liked to think that, anyway.

That wasn't what was important. What was important today was Squall. She hadn't known about his birthday last year, but she did this year. And she was even his girlfriend this time. So.

First, she was going to text Jono, since he'd probably want to know.

Now. Squall hated parties. So ... what to do, instead? She was going to chew on that for most of her shift.

"No. I wish. Why would I want to be one of those sissy boys?" He held up the keys and shook them.

"Alice made me the boss of Groovy Tunes."

"Aww, I thought Weapons guys were butch," she laughed, reaching up to take the keys from his fingers. "You're running the music store? Really?"

First question.

"Do I get a discount?"

"Only compared to your boyfriend." Because, really.

"Yes, I am, and what do I get in trade for the discount?"

"He's butch, just emo," she said, loyally. "Why are you running the store? I can't really offer you a discount on anything here. It's a library."

Seifer was pretty sure Squall would need to lose about half his belts before he could qualify.

"Barely. And Alice is leaving, and I was the lucky employee to walk into the store today, so I got the keys."

"I'm sure she also thinks you're great at your job," Rinoa said. Her loyalty applied to him, too, so there. "She wouldn't just hand the store to anybody."

"Maybe I'm the only one left..." He wasn't sure about that, but with the mass exodus of seniors, it was possible.

"Don't be so down on yourself," she said easily. "You'll be an awesome manager. The best the store has ever had. And I'll earn a discount by ... hmmm. What were you looking to trade for that, anyway?"

Seifer rolled his eyes and grinned. "Nothing. You know I'd give you a discount no matter what."

"That's because, deep down, you're a good, kind person," she laughed. "Your secret is that you don't want anyone to know it."

Was it still okay to reach out a gloved finger to press against his nose? Ex-girlfriends were allowed certain liberties, she figured.

It was totally allowed, and Seifer wouldn't even smack her hand away. "Does Squall know about these delusions you're having? Should we warn him?"'

"Oh, he knows," she said. "I also think he likes having fun, so it all evens out."
