True Heroism! The Olympian Way! Session 7. Period 3

For today's final, Hercules again directed the class into the Danger Shop.

"We have done many things, fought dragons, rescued kittens, designed outfits. But this class is also about the Olympian way, so today we go to the great deeds of Olympic heroes. And I don't mean those of Jesse Owens, whose deeds were that of legend as well."

He grinned as he gestured to what lay ahead of them. In front of the class was a big wooden door, the kind one would normally expect in front of a dungeon. But surely they'd done a dungeon already?

"Ahead of you lies the mighty labyrinth, that which Theseus conquered," Hercules said. "Ah, but you are thinking, 'Hercules, why not one of your own triumphs?'. Those I am saving for my fall class. This... this is a classic. You should be happy I did not pick Icarus! Though... Warren here would be at an unfair advantage, there." He laughed.

"The task is almost sheer elegance in its simplicity," Hercules said. "Get to the center of the labyrinth, where there is punch and pie."

He pressed open the doors to the labyrinth.

"Oh, and there is a minotaur in there. And some trolls. And a few goblins. Just to make it interesting."

He laughed, and gestured for the class to enter.

"I shall see you at the center!"

Right. So, big, deep maze. Not too bad, except for how there wasn't much room for Warren to stretch his wings in here.

Not that he really wanted to, at the moment. He was more concerned about avoiding the worst of the monsters that were running around in here, and laying down his string so that he could backtrack if necessary.

Kate's fingers kept creeping towards her silver needles. Knowing there were things in there was enough to keep her on her toes. There were so many windy corners for things to hide behind in a place like this. The idea of getting lost was less concerning.

Of course, they wouldn't really hurt her, she was sure. It wasn't real. But getting jumped out of nowhere and not being prepared would be embarassing.

Right, time to go in. With the chalk and string tucked away, Percy tugged his jacket tighter around him and stepped inside. The good thing about this labyrinth was that he didn't expected Luke, his Luke, to possibly be lurking.

And those thoughts of Luke had to be banished now lest he think about other things.

Raven didn't consider it cheating to use her gifts to get to the center of the labyrinth. She wanted to avoid a fight, after all, so she concentrated, seeking out the emotional signature of their teacher, and teleported.

Faramir had the strangest feeling he'd done this before. More specifically, he'd done this before only four days ago.

So with some chalk and a sword, he headed into the labyrinth.

Richie would not have been overly excited to see a tight-panted Goblin King, so he wouldn't be too disappointed, even if he had known about the possibility.

He also wasn't too excited about the dark, creepy maze, but he wasn't going to let on about that. Maybe he'd tag the walls with chalk instead of just marking them for directional purposes. That would detract from the creepiness at least.
