Try Not To Die!!!! [Tuesday, August 16]

Much like last week, it was only Tahiri who waited at the causeway for the students to show up this week.

"It seems Master Skywalker is still occupied this week," she told everyone once they'd assembled, sparing a frown for the students who hadn't returned yet, either. "Which is a shame, since this is the last class and I'm sure he would have enjoyed putting you all through something especially difficult."

Although given the town across the causeway, how difficult could it possibly be? Don't answer that.

"Anyway, it's my understanding that this particular time period on Earth is notable for its cultural, er . . . quirks," Tahiri continued. "Which is what you'll all be dealing with today, so have fun, possibly learn something, and try not to die."

The sweeping-arm gesture she made as she stepped away from the clue box wasn't nearly as dramatic as Anakin's might have been, but she wasn't even going to try to match that anyway.

"Maybe you were better with the hula hoop," Jason said with a scowl. "Have you been thinking about what you'd get me to do if you beat me?"

"No, though I was thinking how it was your birthday..." Which he hoped would wipe that scowl off Jay's face.

Jason hadn't been expecting that, so he couldn't help but crack a smile. "I didn't think you'd remember. I mean, I don't really expect that, so..."

"Maybe you should," he offered with a shrug. "Come on, you're finally nearing my age, right?" Of course Nico would remember that date.

Jason laughed, and nodded. "Yeah, I'm sixteen now. Does that make you feel slightly better about the age difference?"

"Well, there's no making up seventy years in a day, but sure," he smirked. "Of course, I don't really do the whole gifting thing well...unless you like flowers." He was kidding.

Mostly. Look, Persephone had taught him one thing.

"I don't need any flowers, or anything else," Jason said. "You remembered, that's totally enough."

"Good, because I kind of hate flowers." Especially in wreaths in his hair. Nico's shoe scraped at the ground since he realized he was probsbly not supposed to admit to disliking the whole gift process. "Soo...should I attempt to drag you out for a little celebratory rooftop swinging or just get a pizza and meet you in your room?"

"You, pizza, and my room would be an amazing present," Jason said. "I'd like that a lot better than flowers."

"Awesome!" Nico immediately started thinking and he didn't care if Jay hadn't mentioned it, he was totally going to try and snag a cake with red and green frosting. Cake was important. "Gimme a couple hours to gather stuff? Only the best pizza for you."

"Okay. I'll be waiting in my room for you," Jason said. "Whenever you want to come by." This would clearly be a test of patience.
