Much like last week, it was only Tahiri who waited at the causeway for the students to show up this week.

"It seems Master Skywalker is still occupied this week," she told everyone once they'd assembled, sparing a frown for the students who hadn't returned yet, either. "Which is a shame, since this is the last class and I'm sure he would have enjoyed putting you all through something especially difficult."

Although given the town across the causeway, how difficult could it possibly be? Don't answer that.

"Anyway, it's my understanding that this particular time period on Earth is notable for its cultural, er . . . quirks," Tahiri continued. "Which is what you'll all be dealing with today, so have fun, possibly learn something, and try not to die."

The sweeping-arm gesture she made as she stepped away from the clue box wasn't nearly as dramatic as Anakin's might have been, but she wasn't even going to try to match that anyway.

"If the missions back home had been this interesting, maybe I would have passed on the first try."

Instead of trying to make them interesting and getting a failing grade.

"You make those missions sound incredibly dull," Tahiri observed. "Don't you think you'd get tired of the interesting ones after a while, though?"

"They were. Lots of 'wait here and then head back to the ship when the other groups come back' sort of missions. How was I supposed to learn anything if I just sat on my ass somewhere safe and twiddled my thumbs?"

Something Seifer was really bad at. "Seriously. This class would go a long way to prepping the students back at Garden."

Tahiri, never having been any good at those sorts of missions herself, made a wordless noise of sympathy.

"I'm not entirely sure how different it was in Master Skywalker's day, but the Jedi Order tends to throw its students into, um, let's just say situations fairly early on . . . just not as early on as I seemed to want to get into them." When had that started seeming like such an immature thing for her to do? "It was educational, that's for sure."
