Try Not to Die!!!! [Tuesday, August 2]

Anakin had taken two steps across the causeway toward the new town and all of the hair on the back of his neck had stood up. He had a definite bad feeling about the place that was entirely separate from the feeling of general unease that he'd woken up with.

He hoped he wasn't coming down with something--he was hardly ever sick and because of that made for one rotten patient.

He contacted his students to let them know to ]meet him at the Danger Shop this morning, which had been programmed to look like the Coruscant he'd spent his teenage and young adult years on: Tahiri would recognize some of the changes, but for the most part Coruscant was an enormous, bustling city that covered an entire planet.

"Welcome to Coruscant, the capital planet of my galaxy," Anakin said, projecting his voice to be heard over the noise of the streets as thousands of aliens jostled past the students. "It's the home to billions of different beings, and you'll hear hundreds of different languages as you race around today. Try not to die--it'll be extremely difficult to find you here and dying upsets the Danger Shop programming."

Or wasn't allowed by the programming, but Anakin wasn't going to mention that.

He scratched idly at his arm, then stepped away from the clue box.

Cara had eaten worse.

She'd also eaten better, but she wasn't going to focus on that as she mechanically ate.

This... was so not happening. Despite her best efforts, Mercy just couldn't manage to get these down. After her second dash to the bathroom she began just trying to wash them down with huge gulps of water and using her napkin judiciously when she couldn't manage that.

Finally she managed to 'finish' the last of them, looking rather green, and got the clue from Dex.

Come on, really? Jim's mother made even less palatable dishes back at the Benbow Inn for some of their less humanoid patrons, and growing up with a single parent trying to run a business on her own meant that he ate whatever was put in front of him.

Actually, the sliders weren't so bad after a few bites. They weren't trying to get away from him as he ate them, which won them serious bonus points in Jim's book.

Annie's immediate thought was Ugh whyyyyy. She couldn't eat that much even before she lost all that weight and she was really worried about the word 'sulfurous' in the name.

It took her a while to shovel them down, and she hoped she could make up her time on the next thing.

Elle had no shame, which meant she had no problem shoveling the things down.

She just wasn't thinking too closely about what she was eating.

Okay, English cooking was dreadful, but this -- this was far worse. Wesley had a pinched, choked expression as he forced the sliders down.

What he wouldn't give right now to have to do that tea challenge again...

Please. Food was food, as evidenced by the fact that Blind Seer and Firekeeper managed to down ten each without so much as a sign of complaint.

Jason had eaten quite a few odd looking things out of desperation, so it wasn't so much the taste as the fact that there were ten sliders. Still, he managed to get them all down after a bit.

Please, Sam was the kind of girl who would get sick from extremely expired Persian chocolates and then eat more of them.

She didn't just eat all ten Sulfurous Moon Sliders, she ate them with gusto.

Marshall eyed the 'food' curiously before diving in.

... The sliders were not exactly his favourite food ever, but he managed to get them down fairly quickly. The trick, of course, was going to be keeping them down, but he managed at least long enough to get his clue and head onwards.

It didn't smell like the most pleasant meal, but Lion-o was sure that he'd had worse. He was also pretty confident that his stomach could handle it as long as he didn't linger to enjoy the aroma of sulfur. He quickly ate all ten sliders, got his clue, and moved on.

Stephanie strolled into the diner thinking she could handle this challenge, no problem. She'd totally eaten worse, right? Right?

Maybe, but usually 'worse' was less . . . overt about it, because this was --

Aieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Halfway through she ended up having to excuse herself from the table for a few minutes best left undocumented, and came back to make her way through the rest of the meal while nagged by the lingering thought that green wasn't really her color. Conversely, and comfortingly, at least it was only a metaphorical green.

She hoped.

Those were so not the sliders Nico was looking for. In fact, he was horrified by what had been done to his favorite food. Where was McDonald's when you needed it?

He took way longer than he should have to get all ten down and suspected he'd be feeling that all day and night.

Seifer had eaten worse back home (Jelleye soup, anyone?), and while he choked a bit on the first one, he managed to get them down pretty quickly.

Bruce wasn't much of a speed eater, although he had read up on competitive eating. So what he lacked in the ability to gorge himself, he made up for in technique. I don't really know what the hell I mean by that, but it doesn't matter. BATMAN.

As he thought it over while getting Dex's clue, he wasn't thrilled with his time, but it could have been worse.

Tahiri definitely noticed the changes in the planet from the way she knew it; for one, it was a lot less Vongformed.

. . . part of her could understand why it had been reshaped; it made her a little twitchy.

Mercy, well, staggered was too strong a word (though not by much!), made her way over to Anakin, and lost the rest of her lunch not quite on his shoes. "Sorry," she said miserably. "Something didn't agree with me."

She didn't care what place she'd come in, all she really wanted to do was find a corner somewhere so she could curl up and die - name of the class notwithstanding.
