Instead of meeting on the causeway like usual, Anakin was bundled up as much as the rest of them and was standing before the workshop in....wherever the hell they were, using a bit of the Force to make sure his voice was heard over the wind.

"Because this environment is so drastic, I felt like there was more here for you to learn about survival, so today's class will also be held in the cold. There will be hot cocoa waiting for you on the other side, please keep your skin safe from the cold...and try not to die."

With that, Anakin raised his hand and dropped the class into the 19 individual caves he'd dug for them under the snow.

Anakin needed more productive hobbies.

Road Block [7/26]

Oh dear. You're stuck inside a cave upside down entirely optional, with one of three weapons: a hockey stick, a pickaxe, or a homemade spear from last week, and you can hear Anakin doing his krayt dragon impression, ala Obi-Wan something huge and hungry-sounding approaching.

Dig your way out of the cave: halfway through the ice, you'll find your next clue.

Anakin loved his job perhaps a little too much.

All right, no. Just no. Mercy quickly stripped, bundled her clothes into something easily carried in her coyote form, and dug her way out of the cave. She took longer than usual to get done, simply because she was busy making sure none of her fellow students saw her shifting or saw a clothes carrying coyote dashing for the next station.

Hey, at least she was toasty warm.

[That Mercy has shifted is NFB, but if radio wants to report that a coyote was seen by people during class, that's fine.]

Hey, a pickaxe. Jim could pretend that he knew his way around that thing like a pro, and it had the added bonus of being pointy and pretty darn dangerous if whatever it was that was making its way closer actually caught up to him.

He was going to dig like the dickens anyhow, though, because he really didn't want any run-ins with something that wanted to eat him, today. Beyond that, he wasn't used to weather like this, which kind of helped the wanting to get out of there faster.

Jason didn't like being cold at all, so just being inside the cave was bad enough. Then, he saw he got to dig out with a hockey stick and, well, someone wasn't very happy with Anakin at the moment.

Bruce chose the spear. He knew that it wouldn't be the best for digging, but he figured that any time he lost here could be made up if he had to stab or cut later on.

The cold wasn't bad, so far as Nico was concerned and he grabbed his hockey stick and got to digging. At least he could enjoy the rush as he worked hard to get through the ice quickly.

Between the cold and the sound, Seifer pretty much said 'screw it' and called up Ifrit, mostly to guard his back from whatever could be coming. Looking at the blocked exit, Seifer smirked and called up a large ball of flame with a muttered Firaga, and threw it at the pile of snow, which quickly melted away, leaving a large hole for him to escape through. Not to mention most of the surrounding area was quickly melting and refreezing.

"Maybe that was overkill," he said to Ifrit as he slipped through puddles and slush on his way out. He didn't even notice the clue floating around until Ifrit pointed it out. "Oops."

Digging sure sounded like work. On the other hand, it could also be considered wanton destruction.

And Sam was very good at wanton destruction.

Detour: Make Shelter or Make Tracks

Make Shelter is closer, but requires more brute strength; Make Tracks takes longer and might not be the best choice for students who are already cold from digging out of their caves.

When you get to the marked-off area to Make Shelter, you will find several sticks and the recently deceased, still warm carcass of a tauntaun buffalo.

And snow. Lots of snow. It's your choice what parts you use to build a shelter, but make one, take a picture of it with the digital camera provided inside the mouse droid, and then use the clue provided to run to find Anakin.

Detour: Make Tracks

Without using your GPS and only using such landmarks that are around you and the map that was provided with the clue, track down and dig up three little plastic snowmen that Anakin has buried in the snow.

The final one will have the clue that will tell you where Anakin is hiding.

Ask Tahiri or Anakin for help!

"I am getting frostbitten!" is a good reason to ask for help. "I can't find the snowmen" is not.

A still nicely warm Mercy, back in human form, made her way in finally to give Anakin her snowmen. Funny how she didn't seem to expect to have done well...


[Anakin's fine to have noticed that she shifted - or just that something's up - and question her here or later, just not for radio broadcast. :) ]

His teeth were chattering and he was just a little on the cranky side, but damn it, Jim had finished the tasks that were set out before him. And he was only mildly scarred for life at the whole 'buffalo corpse' thing! Honest.

"Dead things," he muttered, shaking his head and cramming his hands into his armpits. "Of course, dead things."

"Just tell me I'm not last," Jason said, trying not to let his teeth chatter as he finally made it to Anakin. That would just be the embarrassment icing on the cake.

Nico was winded and kind of excited to hear how he'd done after spending so much time digging in the snow. "I'm gonna be sorry if we end up in a sandy place next," he admitted.

Seifer didn't see anyone but Anakin and Tahiri when he got to the finish, and he was really hoping he wasn't last.

Anyone who wants to have seen a coyote, or wonder why they didn't see Mercy along the way or some such, is welcome to do so. It's about time somebody caught her or started wondering. Just NFB if they figure it out, please. :)
