Today when the class arrived in the Danger Shop, they'd see that they were set up in a Diner type setting. Actually it was a diner with Zombies hanging out in it. Zombies frozen in place.

Along with Columbus was a grumpy looking man in a leather jacket and a cowboy hat.

"Hi everyone!" Columbus said cheerfully. "For those of you who were in class last term you no doubt remember Tallahassee."

Tallahassee grunted something that sounded like a greeting.

"Today we're going to be talking about..."

Columbus fiddled with the remote and once again big block letters appeared behind himself and Tallahassee.

THE BUDDY SYSTEM

"Wait, wait wait," Tallahassee said holding up his hand. "Didn't we do that already?"

"Actually that was 'Get a Kick Ass Partner'," Columbus explained. "It's totally different."

"No, it isn't."

"Yes, it is."

"No... it isn't."

Columbus sighed. "Today your assignment is to team up with another classmate and make sure you get through the diner without dying. Go ahead. I have to argue with an artificial intelligence."

"Did you just call me stupid?" Tallahassee demanded angrily.

Columbus sighed again and hit the remote un-pausing the zombies. This could take a while.

He grabbed the nearest chair, holding it out in front of him like you might expect from a lion tamer in a circus. Really, it just seemed the best thing to keep zombies a good arms length away from him.

Sam knew zombies. He still hadn't experimented with controlling these particular zombies because he wasn't sure how they worked and if the whole holographic thing would stop him but he knew how they worked and what they wanted so he figured this might be easy with a partner.

He was stretching and taking note of the exits and entrances of the diner while he waited for a partner.

Manchester, Alabama

Bart wandered into the class as if nothing were weird and as if he hadn't missed the first few classes. He couldn't whistle non-chalantly, he couldn't really whistle at all.

However, when he saw the zombies, his face sunk. He looked around to see if everyone else was as confused as he was. They weren't, so he shut up.

The holographic guy however was pretty cool. Kinda like the holovids he grew up with. That, oddly enough made more sense to him than zombies ever would.

A challenge. This was good. Not a whole lot of thinking. He could get in and out of that place without anyone noticing he was gone. He could even carry someone with him. This was going to be a snap.

He put on his goggles and started stretching. Always good to stretch before a good sprint.

Greendale, Colorado

Dave was going to get a buddy, he really was, but they were in a diner and first he needed some coffee to calm his nerves. Of course, it was pretend coffee, but Dave chose to ignore that as he picked up a mug of black, caffeinated goodness.

When he grabbed the mug, a zombie popped up from behind the counter. "Aaaaah!" Dave shrieked, as he shoved the mug into the zombie's face as hard as he could. The zombie apparently didn't like hot coffee and broken ceramic in the face, so he fell backwards.

Before he fled, Dave threw the remains of the mug - now just sharp points with a handle, really - at the zombie's face for the double tap.

Turns out, coffee was in fact Dave's best possible partner.
