Deep Sea Diving, Tuesday, Period 3

When the students entered the Danger Shop, they'd find themselves standing at the edge of dock, a boat tied up nearby. There was diving equipment laid out on one side of the boat. Summer stood at the entrance of the boat, smiling warmly.

"Welcome to Deep Sea Diving," she began. "I apologize for not having our first class last week. Something unexpected came up. But that's taken care of, so we can make up for it today. I'm Summer Pitt, for those that might not know me. You can call me Miss Pitt or Summer, whichever you prefer." She wasn't picky.

"I thought we could start with brief introductions, what experience you might have with diving, if any. And just for fun, I'd like to know if there's a particular place you'd like to go diving. For me, it'd be the Great Barrier Reef." She'd get there, one day.

"After that, we'll set you up with the right equipment and I'll teach you how to use it. Then, if you want to, you can test it out in the water and see how it feels. If you have any questions, feel free to bring them to me. Along the way, I'll give a brief history of diving -- how it started and how far it's come."

"I'm Percy Jackson and I haven't really done any official diving but I can, uh, spend long periods of time underwater without needing any of the equipment."

Thanks, Dad! Of course, thinking of his dad made him think about Luke and he scowled briefly.

"As for where I wanna dive, I dunno, maybe Baja? I've seen pictures of that place before. Looks nice."

"My name is Ryan and I don't have a whole lot of experience with diving, but I've done some snorkeling before," she said. "And a place I would love to go diving one day is some of the coral reefs in Hawaii. I saw them in a magazine once and it looked amazing."

"I'm Jack. No experience with diving. I come from Missouri, so there isn't a sea to dive in. I have to agree with the other two. Somewhere with good visibility. Tropical would be nice."

Find the equipment and test it out, Summer will handwavily help you out and explain the pieces to you. If you want, test it out in the water or just hang out on the boat for a bit.

Even if Percy didn't need the equipment, he figured he could take a look at it and get acquainted. When he realized how bulky it felt, he was pretty damn happy that he didn't need the equipment. It'd take away from the fun of being in the water.
